2019 Kia Stinger

I never thought you would be out lol. Well let's hope they get it together next year!
I think they had it together for Canada , I think they under priced the car by $10 K and MSRP for a fully loaded GT Limited is a deal compared to the German benchmarks..........................I'll bet we see a price increase next year , my dealer is pushing for one .

price increase next year

You may be right - or wrong. Who knows?

They aren't selling loads of K900, Cadenzas, Genesis, all very nice cars. And you are sure the Stinger will do it when everybody wants an SUV?
I am just saying.

In the meantime, be my guinea pig. :):):)

I never thought

Neither did I....but man lives by his convictions :) Just because I am on the forum doesn't mean I've swallowed the KIA KoolAid :)

I've now watched & listened as our American friends complained of the things that were not in the cars they were offered, and it "crossed my mind", why anyone with a lot of reservations would still go ahead buying these cars nevertheless. I thought it could have been time for the big middle digit.

It could be great lesson to the manufacturer.

My guess is they came to some sort of agreement with Hyundai USA to leave a few features out so they have a reason to charge more for the Genesis G70. Otherwise, there's not a whole lot of reason to buy the Genesis.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yes, Kia was correct that people will be influenced by the Biermann-Schreyer-Nurburgring associations. I certainly was, and expected that Stinger would be an alternative to the German marques. Disappointments began with the fake hood scoops, hard plastic pieces in the interior, and above all the incompetent introduction - KDM cars as demos, Deep Chroma Blue shown but inexplicably not offered in the US, the decontenting, price differences with Canada, and above all the dealer stupidity in markups, etc.

Kia has had a golden opportunity to win over buyers of German cars and appears to have squandered it. I have given up, and against the advice of moinmoin (I think), I bought a BMW M240i.

Perhaps they're reserving their big guns - their heavy ammunition - for after the easy sales slow down. Maybe for now they're going for the low hanging fruit - the people looking for German car characteristics who are coming from a Camry, Accord, Altima, Fusion, etcetera. Cadillac has had a lot of success with this tactic.

Kia has had a golden opportunity

I must say, I agree with everything you said. And to clarify, I am not saying that the Stinger isn't a good car. In all probability, it likely is.

But as @hereward said, the way the Stinger was introduced to the market, the follow up later with prospective buyer (virtually none et al), website information, unavailability of test drives (while everybody in the media business was invited), demand for excessive deposit amounts, the list goes on.....then the realization, that although the moniker of "luxury GT" was kicked around, other cars of the brand had already features, that we left off this car. Eventually and in the final analysis this left a lot to be desired. So I hit the "Pause" button.

Just my take.
I am obviously not the only one.

Sorry ......I have to call BS !!! ! Yes I think the US market has to be upset for all the reasons mentioned , but here in Canada Kia Canada layed a golden egg for us ! you're saying you sympathize for our US friends and arent going to buy one ?? Really ...................... we get a great car fully loaded for $25K less than a BMW4 GC etc etc etc .......................... doesnt add up .:confused::confused: ...............and dont blame the US issue on the manufacturer , this is a Kia USA strategy , just like our 2 car AWD V6 assortment was the decision of Kia Canada............:)

I am sure we all congratulate the good fortune of our Canadian brethren for getting such a good deal in the pricing of the Stinger, and certainly Kia Canada looks more enlightened. Westcoast is also very probably right that the US fiasco is due to Kia USA marketing geniuses. In any case, the impertinent and insolent markup strategy of the dealers will keep me away from Kia.

I would say the reason would be the valet maintenance. That's still a big plus.

They need to fire the guys at Kia USA who decided that crap then lol. I wish we had the people from Kia Canada.

unavailability of test drives (while everybody in the media business was invited)

This one point is weak but the rest of what you said makes sense. The thing about the test drives for the media is they were at events on closed courses. Sure they could have had an event for a few people to come by and test do test drives but let's be honest, they wouldn't have had the same kind of exposure from a few of us who know about the Stinger to come to the event and then spread the word about the car.

I would say the reason would be the valet maintenance. That's still a big plus.

Sure it's a big plus but if that's the only thing that sets the two cars apart they wouldn't be able to charge a whole lot more for the G70. The Genesis badge is just not worth that much yet.

I doubt they're going to charge that much more anyway though. Otherwise they're going to encroach on the G80 Sport. My guess is a few extra thousand over the Stinger which could be justified by valet maintenance. Not to mention the fact that it's going to be faster.

This strikes me as the best explanation I could come up with.

Thing is though, they're going to sell it in in those other markets too right? So why are we the only one getting hosed?

I get the feeling they have very high hopes for Genesis in America - specifically...

I'm gona wait and see what the 2019 models bring as well. I plan on going with the 2.0l, 255hp engine. As it is.. The "premium" model in the states seems pretty damn well equipped. But I'd like to see kia move down a few features to the base engine premium package. These being:

1) Flat bottom steering wheel
2) Ventilated front seats
3) 360 camera (not sure if it's already on the 2.0l as they're not in Canada yet)
4) Power rear hatch would be a bonus as well.
5) Maybe add a custom package to the top 2.0l trim.. Unique alloy wheels with painted brakes. Or something like that.. an incentive for buyers not going for top of the line to still feel like this trim is special.

I'm hoping kia sees not every1 wants the v6.. But don't Wana sacrifice the cushy interior features because of that.

Yeah that would be great. I could save some money and get better gas mileage.

I agree, they really need to think about this. The same thing happens a lot with phones. You need the biggest iPhone to get the one with all the best features - best camera, most memory, most storage, etcetera. Why? That's stupid. Not everybody wants a phablet! The same goes for cars. Not everyone wants or needs the bigger engine - but is willing to pay for the features available in that model. I have a Google Pixel 2 - the smaller of the Pixel devices. My previous phone was a Nexus 6P (the large one). I wanted a small phone for a change and I'm glad Google is smart enough to offer all the features in the smaller device...

I think it all comes down to money. Better profit margins the way they do it. Google isn't trying to sustain their business from phones. Word is even Samsung is going to start offering more features with the bigger phone than the smaller one. That's exactly what these car manufacturers are doing. It is actually quite annoying though.
