2019 Kia Stinger Changes

Is that official? I have seen documentation to the contrary saying there are no changes for 2019.

the ventilated seats on GT1 would have been nice.. but not a game changer!

Wireless charging, surround view monitoring..... This must be for outside the USA I take it?

Someone from Texas posted those images on Facebook. I reposted them to this forum as they look official, but as someone noted this information is not on an official website so caveat emptor! (Another link from Facebook stated the MSRP would be $58k. Hard to believe even if for a GT2 AWD. )

Cheers

If they make that mistake they might as well discontinue the car now.

Damn. Maybe because of tariffs??? If that’s true, I am glad I bought mine when I did even though I don’t have the 360 camera I really wanted. But I really doubt MSRP will increase.

I really want that 360 camera. Maybe they’ll still have the lease cash on the 2019s... ;)

$5.5k more over current MSRP is hardly anything to scoff at, especially since this is competing with cars that will *still* be $15-20k above it, at that price. And if that price is going up, you can wonder if the Germans are going to have to increase prices as well. A single note does not indicate the entire picture.

Can you name another mass production vehicle that was successful after a increase in price by over 10% from one year to another without a major redesign?

We are currently speculating that the business case made for the US version cars missing features was done so in favor of the extended warranty.
The US is offered a 100k mile warranty which to our knowledge, is 30k more than anywhere else. The warranties are not free, they cost quite a bit of money and I suspect the company felt that they HAD to offer this warranty, since that is what has boosted their sales. In order to keep it in the price range they wanted, they had to sacrifice in a couple areas.

Those areas are:
- Not cutting big-dollar deals with cell phone providers to offer SIM card service to the cars (I'm fuzzy on the numbers here, but I would expect this to save KIA an up-front contract cost somewhere near 100k to provide continuous support and service, plus a recurring monthly bill for however long they decide to cover the cost for the buyer (typically 3 years I think)
- No 360* camera which saves them probably 500-600$ per vehicle (that is a huge savings in the car world)
- No rear heated seats (100-200$ per unit)
- No wireless charger (100-200$ per unit)

All in all it's probably about a 1.5k per vehicle off the price. Which if I am not mistaken is about the price difference for Canada's MSRP with the added features and the lesser warranty.

Given the success of the car in various markets, KIA may be able to start implementing the added features AND keep the 100k warranty in the US market, but that is speculative and I would be really impressed/surprised if they could do it as early as 2019. That said, I've been wrong before.

But they are offering it on K900 and 2019 Optima, so they are already have a contract. Also, to continue similar service other manufacturers charge around $20 per month and they keep calling owners for same. So I assume they make a good profit from that. So monthly bill for the company should not be that hefty.

Why did they reduce the speedometer max from 180 to 160? some kind of regulation?

I believe the 18" AWD packages are capped at 167 mph so my guess is to make it look more clear that you don't get to go as fast

The 19" GTs are capped at 167. 18" versions are in the 130s or 140s .

Words like Gradewalk, Cassetting, Fastback, are not common here, but US-specific words like tires and trunk are used as well.

The biggest concern I have is that the AWD appears to ONLY come with 18"/reduced speed..

I have all of that now except the mood lighting in cabin and speed reduction! Oh and no heated steering wheel which is useless over here as its so hot.

I think the Aussie 2019s come with a snake bite kit and shark repellent .........................

Can you name another mass production vehicle that successfully competed in its category with cars $20k more expensive? This is a revolution in the sport sedan category, no one's ever done something like this before from a brand such as Kia. Nothing really to compare to except speculation.
