I'm trying to buy a Stinger -- a dealer I'm corresponding with has several 2018s. Should I be interested? I'm a bit concerned about it being the first model year, and wondering if it has some bugs that have since been worked out. I'm not sure if I'm interested at all, but if I am, how deep of a discount should I be looking for? Opinions?

I think you’ll find most of the “long time” forum members are owners of the first year out model... myself included. There was a time when first year model cars were quite questionable and gamble... This was when automobile manufacturers didn’t have/utilize the engineering resources available this day and age. Much of the testing now is done “virtually” often before field work is accomplished. My 2018 is AOK thus far. No generation one woes for me.....
My advice, try and find one that wasn’t abused as a tester with a bunch of miles on it. Many test drivers invoke the “drive it like you stole it” system then purchase a same model car that wasn’t a demo. Worse, is the dealer “pet car” they use for a bit, then sell. Good luck on your decision. db
PS. the 2019 US models DO have some features excluded from the 2018’s.... so if those are more important than the cost savings, may want to choose accordingly.

First model year is not big of issue. But car sitting there for more than a year is.

I'm not sure I'd necessarily call it an issue - but it's certainly a factor to consider when making an offer. Go harder than the dealer's first offer...

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Mine is an Oct.17 build & no issues, if you are offered 2018 builds should be just as good.
