I'm just curious if I'm the only one thinking of trading my '18 GT2 for a '19 GT2 with the missing options? Obviously won't be able to recoup the lease payments already made but at only 10 months in, I wouldn't mind starting over on the car Kia should've made available in the US from the beginning. Please tell me I'm not the only one....

You're not the only one. As much as I'd love to have the 360 cam to avoid the inevitable curbing of my rims, it's really about the paint for me. That said, I'm not going to take the financial bath of doing this, so unless my paint issues prompt this, it's probably just wishful thinking.

What if they were willing to give you the full amount of your payoff as your trade allowance? That's kind of the predicament I'm in. Payoff is $37,994. I went to a couple of dealerships this past weekend and was offered as high as $37k for trade allowance. I ultimately didn't do the deal based on the $994 negative equity. They were also offering $3500 off MSRP on the GT2. I know I could probably do better on that front as well. With those factors, plus the .9% for 66 months and the tax savings based on my trade... I'm really debating whether to pull the trigger.

Considering I got my 2018 GT2 for ~$40k I wouldn't trade it unless I got the 2019 GT2 for a similar price. The wireless charger is like $300, the 360 cam will be figured out soon enough as a retrofit for ~$2k I'm sure. I might add the cameras to mine but I can't see trading it in.

Contemplated this as well, and ultimately decided is not worth it. I have already installed the wireless charger and I am just waiting for the first the 19s to start hitting the junkyards to gather all parts for the 360 camera install.

How much did you put down? Hard to know without all the numbers. Also, unless you are going to buy out your lease, I don't think this makes a lot of sense for you.

$1000 down plus 1st lease payment. I got a lot of incentives/ discounts on my initial deal. Problem was, I wanted to purchase but the only incentives were thru lease. I did have a trade which they paid in full, no equity positive or negative. But I did get to take advantage of the tax savings. However, now I'm in the predicament of having to pay taxes all over again on a lease buyout (Texas law) plus the interest on the conventional financing of the buyout (lowest rate I've found 3.15% for 66 months). If I continue to lease, I'm stuck with the absurd money factor of. 0019.

PenFed has auto refi at 2.49.

That's only on a 36 month loan. 3.49 for 60 months. I know I'm never gonna recoup all the money I've invested in my 2018 but at the same time I'd much rather "start over" now than wait till lease end. If it wasn't for the tax situation, I'd have bought out the lease long ago and wouldn't have minded the APR on the financing.

I thought the Canadian models had the missing features the US version was denied(heated rear seats, 360 cam, wireless charging port)?

Sorry, just saw you're in the US. The Canadian flag on your profile thru me off.

Yea I think the internet routing at my work is putting me through Canada for some reason. I'm in the US.

I looked into it, not worth it for me. If I spread the increase in payments over 36 months I could buy a few sets of rims or the SVM camera setup...

Well, I pulled the trigger. I gotta say, I almost walked away several times but they basically met me where I wanted to be. I don't have the paperwork in front of me so I can't give ya'll the exact breakdown, but I'll be posting that soon. I now own a 2019 Ceramic Silver GT2 RWD with red (burgundy) interior. This was the color scheme I wanted from the very beginning. Good news, I'm out of that lease and actually purchased this one. Selling price was $48,500 plus the usual miscellaneous dealer fees. They were going to charge me some dealer prep package (tinted windows, pin stripes, nitro in tires for $800) that they had already added but they waived that cost. I got to transfer the all weather mats/cargo tray and mud guards from my trade to the new car. They gave me $39k on my trade (lease buyout was $37993) which gave me $1000 in positive equity. Due to my trade allowance, I paid under $600 in total taxes. I'm going thru KMF at a rate of .9% for 66 months. I did add the wheel/tire protection and 100,000 mile premium warranty for $2200 combined. All in all, it's not the best deal out there that can be had but it met my requirements. I can honestly say, I now have the car I wanted all along. No dealing with lease buyout drama, paying double taxes (in Texas lease and then buyout are two separate taxable transactions), limits on lease mileage or trying to find a good APR to secure buyout financing. Added bonus of course is, I have a year newer model with all the features that should've been on the 2018 model. It's gonna be a very Merry Christmas!

Technically never left. Does this mean I should expect to receive 2 pair of Stinger Headphones? I can't wait to take some pics and do some mods since I know this one is really mine.

How many miles did you have on your 18?

11,650 miles since February. obviously the 12K mile/year lease limit wasn't working for me.

I did the 2018 to 2019 GT2 AWD switch at absolutely no added out of pocket cost. Exact same monthly on a 36 month lease. My dealer counts me as his number 1 customer for various reasons, and wanted to make me happy. He worked the numbers with the KIA incentives and his cuts in cost. He lost some money but he knew I was never totally happy with the 2018 with the missing features that I had on my 2016 Optima SLX that I traded in. I had the red Stinger for 2018 and now I have the ghost gray (ceramic silver) with the gorgeous red interior. It was a no brainer. I am finally in love with the car. My dealer rocks.

I had the Snow White GT2 for 2018. That wasn't my first color choice but it was my close 2nd. I now have the Ceramic Silver with burgundy interior as well for 2019. I know exactly what you mean by finally getting the car I originally wanted. So much so, that I decided not to lease and purchase this one. Still got $4k off MSRP, $39k on my trade ($1000 positive equity) and .9% for 66 months. Due to my trade allowance, I only paid $593 in taxes. I'm ready to do some mods since I know this one is really and truly mine.

I also traded a 2016 Optima SLX for my Stinger. I didn't think it was a big deal that the Stinger doesn't have a few things that the Optima had but turns out I do miss them, particularly the 360 camera and wireless charger. I know I can retro the charger but it still nags at me a little that I didn't get the 2019 instead and just all the features I wanted.
