What's the differences between the 2 USB jacks in the front console. Pardon my noobiness. Is there a specific one for Android Auto or are they both the same20180228_201832.webp

USB one is the data port + power - it's for android auto, Apple car play, etc.

The other is just a charging port - providing only power, might charge faster, but I am not sure on this.

Thanks Euljiro1ga. Think you are right. Very late here ... long day. Just got my GT2 yesterday. Trying to plug all my pre-purchased upgrades at once. Easy switch if I am wrong.

Oh congratulation! It's gonna be hard going to sleep tonight.

The charging only port should definitely charge faster as the data port is most likely (if same as previous Kia models) USB-2 to spec - current limited to 500ma. I'll test this with my USB ammeter when I get a chance.

Great idea!

A bit off topic, but please tell about your covered cup holder job. Where, how much, who did it...etc.!

I intalled it. Got it off ebay.

The USB HUB will not charge everything fast, it just shares the available power between what ever is plugged in.

Also there is a charging port in the rear which you could use with a long wire if you needed more ports.

I like the cup holder cover, really great job putting it in.

Wow, great video. How long did it take you to do the swap (following the video instructions I presume)?
Just keep in mind, if you do this, the front cup holder on the covered version is a lot smaller than the stock one. A cover is nice, but I'd rather keep my american-glutton super-sized cup holders.

We need someone to take a closer look at this, please!

One of the holders is a bit smaller. The other is the same size. I have had this on other cars (with cover) and doesn't bother me at all.

Obviously KIA thought most North Americans would prefer the open holders. I can't imagine there is more than a couple of bucks difference in cost if it was installed at the factory.

Americans love their big gulp.

As long as it fit a cup of tea, us Brits will be happy.

As for the Canadians, I can't think of a stereotype except for Maple syrup or Bacon, but neither of them work really....

I won't be pouring maple syrup in to test the capacity!

In my opinion, aesthetically, the covered holders match the rest of the interior design better, including the covered phone/iPod holder that is right adjacent to it. I would pick the cover, but like everyone else, there is no choice. You get whatever some KIA marketing maven decided was appropriate for your country. I happen to disagree with about 90% of their choices as I learn about them on this forum.

You are all lucky that the different centre console made for the left hand drive cars.

I've not been able to find one for right hand drive, looks like I'll need sellotape and cardboard...

Right now I'm using the front cupholder for holding my phone. This is important! LOL
