Interested to know where you’re at with this? I’m in the same situation. 6 repair attempts including a brand new sunroof assembly and still rattling and creaking about. 2.5 months without my car and no Fair Trading resolution yet.

I gave up after the last repair attempt and tolerate it with 4 years free servicing as compensation. I'd rather not keep giving the car in and fair trade are pretty average. Fair trade from the outset told me that my only avenue was really the small claims tribunal.

Unfortunately for me, the issues keep coming. In addition to the driver door popping due to the window trim, rattling from the sunroof which they have to look at, and popping from the center console where the phone charges (that may have actually finally been fixed though), they are replacing the rear armrest due to weird lines in the leather (the detail guy at the dealership thought it was quite odd).

Now, on top of that, one part of the leather on passenger seat that you sit on top of has raised up and kind of "bubbled" and is no longer flat. Someone has only sat in it like two or three times. Meanwhile, the driver seat which gets sat in all the time is fine. So, they may now have to replace the passenger seat.

I hope the issues can be fixed, and that new ones don't keep popping up.

Yes, if you come to a settlement with KIA you sign an NDA.

I can't say how I know :)
What about a YDA go on you know ya wanna.

Has anyone read the Facebook groups and that the solution to the sunroof noise is actually the side skirts? The creaking in the sunroof comes from vibration caused by the side skirts that run up the pillars to the roof. Several people have clipped the side skirts back in and the creaking has disappeared. If you reach under your side skirt and run you hand along the inner edge and keep pushing up, the clips should re-engage if any are loose.

I read that the loose rocker panels caused vibration that was heard in the B pillar or door panels; not the sunroof.

And what are these "clips"? I looked under my car and the entire under edge of the rocker panels is completely free of any clips. The under edge has "warpage" i.e. isn't just flat. I can push up on the area that is down but there is no indication that it is "unclipped" or loose.

Interesting. I read where people said it eliminated their sunroof rattle.

You can't see the clips, they are inside the rocker. Try pushing up as hard/far as you can on the inner edge of those warped areas. If they stay up it could be because a clip wasn't engaged.

I was hearing the same noise and took it to the Kia dealership. The service manager went along on the road test to help diagnose the noise.
I was thinking it was the sunroof just like everyone else.
It turned out to be 4 loose clips on the passenger's undercarriage of the car. Going on two days without noise.

It would be fantastic is this was the remedy to the sunroof rattle. A cheap and simple fix vs ripping apart the sunroof.

Mine is silent but my rockers are also clipped tight and I have side skirts screwed into them so they shouldn't move.

I did so. The lower bits don't have anything directly above them to clip to. The plastic just pushes up without touching anything. But on either side of that area, I did, indeed, feel/hear some attachment points reseating. Not that anything was hanging down or actually coming loose. But it was rather kinesthetic to feel something grip a bit more with my efforts. :)

Here’s an attempt by Kia service to eliminate an area that might be causing the rattle.
I had no idea this was tried until recently when I had to fold the seats down in the rear to find black masking tape over the lock.
Although this didn’t make any difference I now know why it’s been hard to lock the rear seat in position.
It just goes to prove that Kia really don’t know how to fix this issue when they grasp at anything,

Do you have any pics to help us figure this out? I have no idea what side skirt runs up the pillar of the car to the roof?

He means that the vibration starts with the loose "side skirts", and then the vibration runs up the pillars to the roof. That's how I took it, anyway.

The side skirt / rocker is the flat horizontal plastic part that runs along the bottom of the car below the doors. If you reach under the car or look under it from the side you'll see how the painted plastic wraps around and extends under the car. Above that painted plastic there are clips that hold the rocker panel in place.

Thanks! And someone thinks this emanates sound from the sunroof area? I can see how it might cause a different rattle if loose, but?!?!
