Got my rattle fixed. I bent the airbox down and shimmed up the strut bar and no more rattle. The screw on the box was tapping the strut bar.
 
Thanks @Jonnytig Quality product.The shop installing the CAI also commented on the setup.

On my drive home (now sure if it’s in my head or maybe because of the new sound) it definitely felt like the car was pulling more. Not sure why but my usual 30min drive home ended up a 1-1/2hr drive :thumbup:

PS As Per @Rango advice from a previous post, I got them to cut 1/2” off the drivers side BOV Hose.
That's sweet!!! Did you paint the intakes black? Going to install my intakes next week.
 
The Nissan GT-R had a similar system as an aftermarket intake for that car. The filter was positioned closer to the front of the bumper than in the Stinger and despite occasionally driving through torrential downpours, no problems with water getting on the filters whatsoever. The JT Stinger design, I feel, should be fine FWIW.

So how about something like this:

The Outerwears pre-filters. Had them on the GT-R. Should stop water from getting in the filter, stops things like bugs from getting trapped in the folds of the filters, and really thin material so shouldn't pose any significant further restriction to air flow. Seemed to work really well on that car!

I work for an industrial filter cartridge manufacturer but on the manufacturing side. I've sent a message to our design engineer to see what his thoughts are.

I'm guessing that it's not a bad idea, .005" mesh opening is 125 microns and K&N filters are tested with particles down to 5 microns. It should let sufficient air through without letting big bugs and stuff in to clog up the pleats. The concern would be that you could get big stuff caking on the filter bag and close off the airflow. That bag only has a very small fraction of the surface area that a pleated filter does.

I just got word that they should be a-okay from a functional standpoint. Our product engineer said he ran a similar product on his racing quads and that they kept out mud and repelled water. The only question is if the bags will fit over those monster filters on the JT setup.
 
No, they were originally black. Black Stinger.

Nice post. Got an email reply from Jonny about rain ingress. He said in a capsule, "no worries". Could not find his complete email answer to post here, but it was thorough. Chime in here @Jonnytig about rain ingress so your reputation exceeds your existence.:)
 
Well i have had my Stinger out in torrential rain for past 3-4 months. We have just come out of our winter here in Australia. Hmmmm car seems to be running fine, hasnt pulled rain into intake. Lol. Sorry but unless your Stinger is a Submarine then you aren't going to have any issues. Would be more likely an ingress of water on a sealed system like factory.
Heck our 17 Ford Mustang GT has a similar SEALED intake from the factory and no problems. Unless engineers at Ford stuffed up. Ok so heres something to try. Get a straw and cut a hole half way up now put the straw into a cup of water and see how much you can suck up?
Water is much denser than air, meaning the filter will pull air in over pulling water droplets in. Remember they are an oiled filter, they dont have the oil sucked out of them

Excellent information. Thanks for doing that. I am guessing finding the appropriate pre-filter should not be a problem as the filters are K&N and used on multiple applications.
 
Suffering from FOMO right now waiting for my kit still. I don't think there have been any videos of the JT CAI installed under WOT (unless I have missed it). From those who have the kit installed, have you got a video you could share?

After almost 8 months of daily driving the GT-R, the pre filters on my car just had an accumulation of dust on them that just washed off. Nothing else caked on them.
