Well i have had my Stinger out in torrential rain for past 3-4 months. We have just come out of our winter here in Australia. Hmmmm car seems to be running fine, hasnt pulled rain into intake. Lol. Sorry but unless your Stinger is a Submarine then you aren't going to have any issues. Would be more likely an ingress of water on a sealed system like factory.
Heck our 17 Ford Mustang GT has a similar SEALED intake from the factory and no problems. Unless engineers at Ford stuffed up. Ok so heres something to try. Get a straw and cut a hole half way up now put the straw into a cup of water and see how much you can suck up?
Water is much denser than air, meaning the filter will pull air in over pulling water droplets in. Remember they are an oiled filter, they dont have the oil sucked out of them

The JT intake does look safe from water especially compared to this one with dry filters sitting just beind the grill.

Hey does anyone know how to remove the shroud around the radar/camera when installing the FMIC? I was stuck on this stage for hours then gave up .. 20181011_235632.webp
 
Thanks tonkabob, I managed to get all 6 screws like they suggested and the cabling but it's the actual "now remove the shroud" step because it seems to yet hooked on the little radiator and piping and I can't wiggle it out and didn't know if there was something I was missing before I go to town chopping it all up from frustration :P
 
Could be where the tow hook comes out at the back as mine was protruding about 2-3cm. Which i had to cut as the cooler wasn't going up. Frustrated thinking i got sent the wrong cooler. As it was Sunday i had to wait till monday. Once i spoke to johnny it clarified afew of things. Bolted up sweet as and friggin sounds awesome.

Got there yesterday as well after I bought a recip. I as well did not know that the tow hook needed to be cut which delayed me three days with work. But I agree with the FMIC and CAI the stinger goes hard and sounds mean!

Have noticed boost cut on several occasions while driving it spiritedly. The first time i thought i didn't tighten the clamps properly. Pulled the front bar of again to find it was all good. Now i have had it happen a few times. Thinking the ecu is detecting more boost or similar to cause it going to boost cut mode.
Any one else similar results?

What are all your modifications and at what speed did the boost cut?

Johnny Tig FMIC and CAI,
not all the time, but usually through hard shifts 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd
then there is no boost until the car is restarted then back to normal.

I have read about others with JB4 units having this issue due to an over boost or turbine over speed code. Might be something similar.

Symptoms of overboost, thats impressive with just the mods you have. That means the flow increase from those two mods is significant.

With the JB4 you can fix your issue and make a lot more power at the same time.
