3.3TT Declined to do Alignment

I need to do an alignment now that I did the lowering springs and rear sway bar (looks and feels awesome)

Iprinted out the alignment specs and took it to Brakes Plus and they said they cant do the alignment? They cannot type in the new alignment specs and because the car isn't in their system they say I need to take it to the stealership.

Anyone else get rejected from doing the alignment?

Yeah this is normal for new cars. They should be able to update their machine with the specs but need their rep to come out and do it.

I took mine to a shop that aligns a ton of high performance cars and does lots of high end frame/alignment work to include Pikes Peak Hill Climb cars, and they were able to do it by just inputting some other car model and then just getting the specs to match what I gave them. They added some fractions of degrees here and there to match the type of driving I do as well. I can imagine that a big chain probably won't do that, but find a good independent shop with skilled wrench turners and you will be golden.

Took mine to the dealership and they refused. They said the shop manager did not want to do the work because the suspension was modified. I'm assuming for liability purposes? Took it to my Mechanic a few days later (the shop is far from my house) I gave him the specs and he said it was the same as the K900

80 dollars. Couple bucks more than some other places but they nailed it.

Didn't you take yours to Firestone? If so did you have to give them the specs?

Yeah I did, they used an Optima or K900 and adjusted from there.

They have a Hunter alignment machine and their Hunter tech has to update the machine to get the Stinger specs in there. Not sure if every Firestone uses the same equipment though.

UPDATE: Took it to the dealership. They said they dont even have the specs to align the Stinger or K900 yet...

The good news is I only sat around for 90 minutes for them to figure that out...

What are you confused about? Those two statements are saying the same thing. Stock, the rear has camber adjustabilty, and the front does not. The only way you are going to get front camber adjustability is through the use of an aftermarket suspension.

Front suspension is adjustable on 99.9% of cars, just usually not camber. Some shops won’t touch a car if it’s not in their database for liability reasons. It’s can be done but sometimes you just have to find a shop who knows their stuff and can get it done.

Don’t waste your money on nationwide chain alignment shops. Find a local frame and wheel alignment business and take your car there. They are typically professionals and charge the same or less than the useless chain shops.

These are typically the businesses that custom car and lifted truck folks will take their vehicles to.
