Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Keep in mind this is also part of your seat settings. *Everything* in the instrument cluster menu is tied to it. So if you didn't set it correctly before you set the seat settings, then hit the 1 button again, it'll change it back.

Hey, do you have your post in January about the leather seats fading or looking like they have been stained. I am at dealership now.

Does the GT2 have any sort of vehicle tracking system? I am asking for insurance purpose

No, that would be LoJack. A less costly but not hidden or monitored alternative is “Automatic” automatic.com

That would be nice if it could be implemented through the UVO app

It has it’s own app. It tells me when the car starts, stops moves where it is etc. etc. I’m on my third revision of it on three different vehicles. My only complaint is they don’t really give a break on the upgrade. I have to wait for a sale. No subscription fees. There is third party app support. I like it.

ETA
It also send the notices to my Apple Watch and computed my mileage and gas cost based on regional pricing aaverages. It does more than I use it for.

Yea I am sure it is very cool and useful. I was just saying that it would be cool if UVO could do it without adding/buying extra things. Potentially I don't see a reason why 'an improved version' of UVO could not offer the same service.

Totally agree and I think the Canadian version does a Helluva lot more than ours. So there’s that. Another reason to move to Canada!

Ehehe...never been, maybe one day. for the moment, California is perfect (apart car insurance that is too expensive)

As a Canadian with UVO for my Stinger, I’m not all that impressed. The remote services (starting the car, unlocking the doors, etc) seem to work intermittently at best. And even when they do work, the response is very slow.
My experience is that it takes 4 steps and over a minute to remotely start my car. I hope it starts working better before winter arrives.

Wow, you’re popping the balloon on the holy grail. I thought the Uvo system up north and remote start were far superior. So all you really have is the 360 View. Go ahead tell me that’s bad! Oy!

Just as curiosity, I was wondering if all the driver's door buttons are back-lit? the mirrors selector and the mirror folding ones are not in mine (picture attached). Was wondering if that's the way it should be or mine is wrong. Thanks

The side mirror adjustment switches do not light up.
Thank you for the answer. Then my question is why? I mean, I found myself in need of tilting down and then back up the side mirrors while parking at night and took me a while to find the L/R switch. I wonder why they didn't bother adding a backlight to all the buttons

I’ve had other vehicles with remote apps, like the Volvo. UVO is definitely not as quick in terms of UI/UX buy it works great.

Yes, it takes a few clicks to start the car - open app > click Remote Start > click your preset (which is actually cool. You can set your temps, etc. And have multiple presets saved for different scenarios or seasons.) > enter your passcode and wait for car to start.

A simple one time pass code or touchID would be much nicer but the app works well otherwise. It also has vehicle tracking with directions, parking meter reminder, request roadside assistance, call the dealer and a “Health Check” feature and it shows your current odometer reader as well as your service interval. There is a monthly report feature as well but I can’t figure it out.

It also shows the correct color of your car on the home screen. I wish the 360 camera in the vehicle did the same ;)

Overall, less clicks would be great but the app works as advertised. I’ve timed it several times and the remote start takes 30-40 seconds to activate once you enter your password.

Not horrible considering in Canada all vehicles with the exception of Tesla operate on 3G. Volvo app UX seemed faster but start time was still the same delay due to carrier service.

Probably from their parts bin. If the switches are in L or R it will auto tilt down on both sides if you have miss it. It will revert to your set position when in D. So not really a big thingy.

Apparently the new Forte has 4G LTE though.

Today we discovered that if you leave a key in the car, the car will lock if you use the outside key. So, even though the second key is inside the car, as long as the outside key is used to trigger the locks, they will lock.

I agree with you, only thing I would like in an update is a seat cooler selection like the seat heater. The monthly report seems to work now, the one thing that bugs me is, why does the hazard lights have to flash.

Agree, the seat controls should include both if they are able to include either heat or cool.

Hmm, I wonder if that's a setting because ours just screams at us if we try to lock it with any key in the car. The wife left her purse in the trunk (with key) and I had my key in my pocket, when I went to lock it, it just made a high pitched long sound and wouldn't allow us to lock it.
