How to remove and replace the rear badge on the Kia Stinger

Followed the instructions from the youtube video, actually used dental floss. Stinger script was really easy, some WD-40 got the residual adhesive. The kia badge was a bear, lots of lots of Goo-Gone. But the end result looks really good. Still thinking about moving the GT logo to the left, but looks good for now. Even though I keep telling myself it's not level....

Looks great! If you move the GT to the left, put the 3.3T to the right! :p

Ha! Not that there's any skin in the game for you or anything! I'll keep it in mind as I keep staring at this car.
Did I mention that the very Gods themselves would frown upon the thought of you refraining from purchasing the 3.3T badge? o_O    :poop:

Thanks for your post. The only variation to your video was that I used a fishing line 20lb in a sawing motion and work nicely without any scratches. Nevertheless I put some masking tape around the badge because I was skeptical at first. I'm not much of a DIY guy and I did it. Thanks for encouraging me to do it. I also did the front emblem since the rear mod gave me confidence and that was quicker. The front badge swap was done in less than an hour and that was by taking breaks because yesterday it was a really hot day here in NV.

Removing the back Kia badge left paint fading and lots of small scrapes. How do I fix this?View attachment 6933 View attachment 6934

I'm experiencing the same issue. Tried using a compound of two different brands to no avail... It doesn't even seem like a clear coat issue; more of a pair defect given that the compound does nothing and it feels perfectly flat when I run my finger over it...

Any thoughts?

Yea I attempted to take the front badge off and wow are there scratches. I used floss and it kept breaking. I should had placed some tape down to help prevent some of them. Will try to polish some of them out by hand tomorrow when I try again.

Pretty annoyed by it.

I hear you. I also discovered some fading/discoloration on the paint behind the clear coat. Going to see if that can be covered by warranty.

As I have said a thousand times get the dealer to change the badges and if they damage the paint they have to fix it

My dealer said they they don’t do badge changes. Has anybody successfully had their badges changed at the dealer?

Also, I’m looking for a glossy black script stinger badge to pair with my white Stinger. Has anybody found one that’s good quality? I had bought one from ImportShark but the black paint was all scratched upon arrival.

Try ebay and can you put your location in your profile please.

Have you asked Importshark to send you a new one? If I paid $70 for a emblem that would be my first option.

You can try plasti dip. Or have a paint shop paint one for you.

Yes I have. Awaiting a response. Hopefully they will make it right but it made me not trust the shop as much. Given the high price I assumed it would be high quality. That is obviously not always a good assumption to make.

Given my experience with that shop, I thought if somebody had first hand experience with a good product then the recommendation could help me.

I originally plasti-dipped mine. I brought my car in for some paint work and had the emblem painted. When I brought it in (last month, about 6 months after plasti-dipping) I noticed the plasti-dip was starting to peel. So, it's a good solution but it isn't permanent. You'll want to re-do it a couple times a year (or just do a better job applying it than I did).

You can also paint it yourself. Painting it yourself will be a little harder than plasti-dip and a LOT harder to un-do if you make mistakes. And non-professional painting of exterior parts probably won't hold up well over time.

The best option is having a auto paint/body shop paint it for you. They probably won't even charge you for paint since they undoubtedly have some black lying around and it doesn't take much to coat it. You might get lucky only having to pay for an hour or two of labor.

Hey guys, so once you get the badges off, you all seem to be using goo-gone to remove the adhesive. Is there any reason to use that over a label and sticker remover? My only thoughts are that goo gone is probably stronger then label remover and considering all of the issues with paint quality, maybe go with the lesser strength? I may be overthinking/worrying but figured i'd ask.

Hey guys! So I ordered my logos a few weeks ago but due to the damned strike going on with the Canadian post service, I still have not received mine. Now, that is not the issue that I am planning on discussing. I had a ceramic coating appointment arranged many weeks ago and I had to get that done yesterday... My current logos are the default Kia badges.

My question to all you pros, will debadging after ceramic coating have an affect on adhesion of the ‘stinger’ logo on top of the ceramic layer? Further, how stupid and bad would it look for the areas that have not been ceramic coated (such as beneath the kia emblem or its perimeter)?

Thanks guys!
