Everybody take a deep breath and stick to owners discussing their problem and progress towards resolution. Thx!
So... i would presume that in order to make a valid comment about paint chipping you would have to own the car that has chips. I am a little perplexed that some comments are coming from members who dont even have a stinger! Own the car own the comment. No car no comment. Simple.Everybody take a deep breath and stick to owners discussing their problem and progress towards resolution. Thx!
Yeah, I don't fully understand the threads people start here with titles like "Convince me why I should get the Stinger over XXXX"...I mean, people are free to post about what they want but ultimately they have to make the choice.Funny thing is when I was looking at buying a Mustang I drove it loved it but when I found out the safety rating was bad I did not end up buying it. I did not join the Mustang forum to make my decision, it just made sense. I own a Stinger now in Snow White pearl and yes I am a bit worried about the paint issue but it’s clear something is being done for those most affected. If I had the only option of a respray I would do it, sell it and buy another one in silky silver as it’s the least affected colour. The car is very good value for what you pay. It is a first production run and I took that risk but I’m still happy. I have found if you do too much research and wait for things too long opportunities are missed and life experiences are not appreciated so do it now or you will be dead before you get the chance. I feel good when I drive the Stinger and that’s the thing that’s important for me right now. What do they say? Carpe diem .....seize the day!

Is it FUN?! Oh yes!Does the car work? Is it safe?
For most things in life this may be true but not with goods and services. You pay 50k+ and have issues, said issues should be taken care of above and beyond your satisfaction.Let me reframed this question. How can A positive perspective
be created by a negative situation
? I'm glad you ask.
You see ,in life there will be trials and tributlations. Hopefully some sprinkles of good times but mostly unwanted circumstances. There is no control over these things. But the one thing we do have control over is how we prepare ourselves mentally to eventually overcome these situations. Yes, easy to see the bad situation and call it for what it is. Hard is to see the bad situation and declare that this event will eventually be in your favor. That's having blind hope, despite the negatives. Believing despite not seeing. I believe this situation will, in the end, be our most finest moments. Don't know how, but I have faith.
100% agreed with you and I've been 100% satisfied with Kia's response to my concerns. I hope others receive the same treatment. For most things in life this may be true but not with goods and services. True, if we are fortunate in our merchants and customer service. If not, then find one that delivers. That is how the real world works out its own inequities over time. For most things in life this may be true but not with goods and services. Has anyone found out the bases for that decision? To me, not redoing the bumpers in unacceptable, but maybe that's me being too picky. I will probably be getting another color if they don't agree a repaint to the whole car.
Has anyone found out the bases for that decision?
I first heard about the issue with Sunset Yellow a few weeks ago, and sounded like it was Australia only. Saw another article last week regarding no market in particular, and was written in the US. Out of curiousity I called my dealer - East TN - to ask them about it being a issue in the states. They gave me a number to call at KIA USA. They said I should be getting options in the mail in a week or two.
Today I got a call from the dealership saying they are indeed going to take in my Sunset Yellow GT AWD for a repaint. I was on my way out of town for a few weeks today so I dropped it off.
They said the bumpers and chrome parts won’t be touched, just the main body. They are gonna strip it down to bear metal and build it back up. 3 week process at least. They offered to get me a loaner car, but wasn’t necessary for me.... I would’ve requested a GT2 though haha.
The service department was great and apologetic, handled it very well and gave me all the details.
I did have one pea sized chip as a result of some jack wagon weed eating rocks on the side of the road. Idk if it was related to the issue, but either way, it’s getting fixed for free now!
All valid points I didn’t think about... I think I’ll call them tomorrow and tell them to hold off on doing anything until I’m aware of the options. I’ll keep my eyes open on here for what they are, as I won’t be home for 5 weeks to see the letter myself.
