This is interesting because the "rumor mill" is that KMA (Kia Motors America) won't do bumpers, under the hood, door jambs, etc for the Sunset Yellows....... If they are seriously going to shit all over the repaint options for these, while giving other owners with the same issue a good, thorough repaint, I am going to absolutely loose my shit. I am holding on to final judgement until I get the full, official letter in the mail with details and call them back with a laundry list of questions before I make my decision on which option to choose. I want all of the info in front of me before any decision is made.

Part of me thinks that these CS reps making the calls are getting mis-informed or 'interpreting' the info to us in their own way. Some people get 1 description while others get a different description.

Hopefully we will have the official letters soon so we know exactly what we are working with and what will happen.

If they screw this up and do not give us an option for a paint job worthy of a $50k car, unfortunately, I will ditch it and go elsewhere even though I love the Stinger. Fool me once and all that BS.:thumbup:
As I considered adding on a customized "competition orange" paint job from the get go, I have to think that a repaint, even paid for by me, isn't too much to keep this car. I keep going back to that as I read emotional reactions like yours to paint problems. Do I like the Stinger in every other way, enough to keep it regardless? Learning how thinly the paint is applied, applies to all of us. I don't like it! Something tells me that the economizing necessary to bring the Stinger ten thousand bucks and more below the competitions' pricing, will show up in the paint not a lot of years down the road: and a repaint will be necessary anyway. Then, probably, I will get my comp orange put on (or just repaint the Silky Silver, since it has grown on me).

Lets pray all goes well. Either do it right or don't do it at all. If i was KIA I'd offer something you can't refuse to keep you in the family. You want competition orange.....? Done!

If they did offer competition orange they'd be trampled in the rush Top colour
Reckon also it will sell if offered I.e. as a numbered Ltd edition model.

I agree with you @MerlintheMad and I do love this car, but I wanted the Yellow specifically. Yes, I know I'm crazy and my wife tells me that all the time, LOL.

My only issue is that we paid very good money for this car and expected a very good product. If it was 8-10 years old and needed paint that's not an issue and could be expected as car paint goes through some serious hell. But on a car that is basically 4 months old, and I'm looking at a $10-15,000 paint job, that's a little ridiculous. I just want them to fix it so it would last 8-10 years, if it is taken care of.

We trusted them with our money to deliver a quality product, which is all I am asking for. But you break that trust and expect me to be happy with something half-ass, while others who have the exact same product are getting better treatment or quality to start with? That's what I have an issue with.

I had read that Sunset Yellow owners had three options buy back, repaint, or swap for another Stinger.

Does anyone know why they are limiting the surfaces?

Not even an option for me. They said there is no recall. Whatever.

I have to imagine that Blue is next on the list after Yellow. Too many Blue owners are having problems. They might be doing Yellow first to see if the process works out smoothly and then they move to Blue. I do agree that they should acknowledge the problem at the very least.

I just do not get how some people have been granted resprays already. Seems like they jumped the line or process set in place.

I really dont think this will end up being a colour specific issue in the end. They are only doing the lemon coloured lemons right now because they were the lowest production number. Kia is being dishonest by only acknowledging the lemon colour publicly.

You're wrong. Other colors have been granted resprays on a case-by-case basis. Yellow is likely the only color in which *all* VINs are having a paint issue.

I certainly like this line of thinking and the Rep from Irvine who called me said the goal was exactly this, "Keep me (the customer) in the Kia Family" He did also very clearly state that repaint would ONLY be yellow. Now, those details are yet to be seen so who actually knows. Talk is cheap and i am waiting for the written details.

I was offered these three options...during the phone call, the term "full repaint" was used. Again, not certain if full means all metal or all surfaces so must wait for the official written offer with resolutions.

Is your Lemon Stinger also a time machine?

WTF people? This guy ....DAMMMM!! it is not that serious. Skip to 11:30 mark. I hope he's joking.

"Doesn't look that good?" :rofl::rofl:

That’s the issue.....there is NO standard process in place yet. I think if we go waaaay back to an early post of mine I mentioned something to the effect of “can we keep track of all of these problems in case a class action suit is needed?” It seems the way that this is developing in the US, at least, on a case by case, part by part basis, that is where this is headed. The word is on the street already so Kia cannot keep hiding from it. They can however step up and do the right thing and stop pretending it is only an isolated one color problem. If someone on this or other forums is an attorney, start signing people up......don’t wait. I wager that an appropriately filed piece of paper or letter will get a lot of attention sooner. It IS a big deal. What should we say to someone we may want to sell our car to privately in the future when they say “yeah, I heard about how the paint falls off of these cars”? Guess we can take a bucket of rocks and dump them on our hoods like in the video now in this thread to show that our paint is OK? Really should not have to do that.

Can you wait a few weeks until I can get my Yellow taken care of:) I am starting to worry that they will rescind the offer...

Curious, do you have a case number with Kia for your car? If so, what has been the resolution?
