Buyback may not be a dream come true depending on what they offer. If they buy back for average trade like VW did, you just lost $10K between taxes and depreciation. Even if they gave you what you paid, i doubt they cover taxes.

VW is a terrible company and I would expect that treatment from them. Kia might make .mistakes too but they treat their customers well. I think we will get the same offer a lemon law person would get.

Wouldn't it be cool if they allowed you to take (cost of repaint) to a local wrap or dip installer?

That wouldn't be a sustainable solution. Band-Aids don't cure infections.

Thank you! I'm not trying to be an ass to people, but I would hope everyone keeps realistic expectations. Kia definitely wants to make us early adopters happy and make sure they are seen as a car company that stands behind what they build. They are, so far, going above and beyond what others have done so let's at least get the official announcement from them for the US.
All agreed...lets wait to see what KMA says and go from there. So far, there has been no reason to doubt from what i see. Id rather wait for a solid end to end solution in lieu of a knee jerk reaction.

Id be curious too on "taxes" and fees. A buyback is a non option for me but still curious. I am good with a repaint and have no problem paying the shop for a few extra coats on top of what the repaint covers!! Re-doing my PPF will be the key item for me.

Definitely ask for some extra clear coat ;)

I met with my Kia dealer in Auckland, New Zealand, yesterday afternoon. He took photographs and will be in communication with Kia. After which he will advise me of my options. He reassured me that Kia is a very reputable company and will look after me. A repaint is not an option in my country and personally I would not want it. He asked me what I would like Kia to do to resolve the situation. I suggested either a replacement Stinger or a buy-back. I'm leaning towards a buy-back as I'm not confident about the paint quality of the other colours. I should hear back in a couple of days. Regarding comments here about possible buy-backs, IMO you would need to get the total amount of the money you paid for the vehicle refunded.

Interesting and thanks for sharing.

I've been checking my car closely before and after each wash, and didn't find any paint problems like what the rest of you are finding. But a couple of days before my complimentary oil change on June 28, I did a walkaround and found a chip that hadn't been there when I did a walkaround after my last carwash. It's in a weird place—on that rubberized-feeling tape strip on the one 1-inch wide strip along the side of the roof from the sunroof to the hatch. Obviously not the flaking problem some other cars are having, since this is on a different kind of substance.

I pointed it out to the service department to find out what the fix would be, and they took pictures and said they'd get back to me. When I spoke to the rep a day or two later, he hadn't talked to his manager yet, but said he would get back to me. I gave them the benefit of the holiday week before calling back yesterday (11 days after reporting it) and left a message which wasn't returned, and so I called again today. The service rep I spoke to—not the same one—said they didn't have word yet on how to handle this, but it was in process.

I figured it was time to get a case number, and called the ever-patient and polite Jamie (sp?) on the VIP line. She explained that this will take a while, as any paint chips on any color car will go through the same process as the problems being reported on the yellow and blue cars. I had said I was aware of the problem with yellow, but it was Jamie who brought up the blue (FYI for those of you with blue who might have been told by dealers that blue was in the clear).
Edited, as per AV8R: Snow White Pearl, Nov. 2017 build. And I ain't no gentleman. ;)

I have the same issue in the same spots as you on my white stinger. I’ll post a picture once I am off work.

Thanks for this info! I thought I was the only one. Have you mentioned it to your dealer, and if yes, what did they tell you?

Gentlemen... please post colour and build dates so we can track.

Hi Guys. The service manager at my local Kia dealer just called me. He told me that Kia will be communicating in writing with all owners of yellow Stingers and outlining what they are prepared to do. He did say that a respray will be an option and will come with a lifetime warranty. He also was adamant that the YELLOW colour is the only paint affected. When I receive the letter from Kia head office I'll post the details here.
Mark.

I am on it too. Stinger owners need to stick together especially if they own Yellow ones!

I haven’t been in contact with my dealer since I first took the car in. I’ve been keeping corporate KIA aware of what’s going on.
