Told to keep quiet? Seriously? WTF?
If Kia is fixing the issue, what else should we be asking for? Genuinely curious.Apparently for some current owners, this result is completely satisfactory and everyone should just shut their mouths and be happy. Nothing to see here, Uncle Kia has brought gifts and has taken care of us all. Everybody move along.
No worries - that is interesting to know. The MSRP on the top model Stinger 3.3T AWD Limited here including delivery and destination is 52K CAD, the Genesis G70 3.3T AWD is 57.6K CAD. The Genesis purchase includes complimentary maintenance and map updates for 5 years/100K KM, and at-home pickup and dropoff for service/maintenance with a provided Genesis loaner vehicle. Those are all extra features to those provided with the Kia Stinger - is that the same in your market? Not to intrude on your comment. And I don't know about your market.. but here in Saudi Arabia the G70 and Stinger have identical prices. Both fully loaded 3.3 will come arround $47,700. (Without our New 5% VAT)
Not according to any dealers I've spoken with, and I've talked to a few about whether they were looking into following the Genesis lead on upscale, separate branding for the Stinger and possibly other vehicles. Do you have proof of this?Except Kia is currently renovating all of their dealerships to include all of those features.
The problem is this is a new car. I would never accept them repainting my brand new car. Resprays can be easily seen with a meter. If Kia is fixing the issue, what else should we be asking for? Genuinely curious.
And I'm in the camp that this won't hurt resale value because every time I've sold a car on cars.com it's "can I drive it? Has it been in an accident? Ok great let's make a deal".
If it looks good, runs good and has reasonable miles on it, why would they get the meter out? If sold outright, don't think the used car buying public has a meter. The problem is this is a new car. I would never accept them repainting my brand new car. Resprays can be easily seen with a meter.
Also, should not affect a lease turn in if it is handled by the dealer. If it looks good, runs good and has reasonable miles on it, why would they get the meter out? If sold outright, don't think the used car buying public has a meter.
Hey everyone, I’m the guy in Australia that first detected and reported this paint issue back in October last year and have had mine receive a full bare metal respray.
I can tell you that it was initially proposed to much less but it became obvious as more chips appeared that the whole car had the problem and if we didn’t do it all in one go, it would be an ongoing saga for years.
They went back to bare metal to remove all of the dodgy etch primer and baked on base coat that caused the issues to begin with. They replaced my front and rear bumpers and my hood.
I’ve uploaded a copy of the job sheet I got when I picked it up.
I can say that I’m ecstatic with the quality of the new paint job and took it to get looked at independently after the reap

Good questionDoes it go on CAR fax? .
Without Pictures what is it that you do not like? What did they actually repaint?Update...
So after two weeks I picked my Stinger up from the dealership. First, I want to say that my dealership is awesome in all ways service. Great people there. Unfortunately I do not have much to update except that I am not very happy (make that pretty damn disappointed) with the repaint that was completed by the 3rd party body shop. I am still in talks with my dealership about it, and as soon as I know something, I will update you all (for those that are interested). I do have some pictures, but am holding off at this point until I hear back.
On a side note, the damn Hatch Rattle is back... again. 2 "fixes" for it so far, SA322 and the newer one that I cannot remember the SA number for. It is really loud this time as well. Uggg.
