Rear view mirrors not tilting in reverse

FYI even the 2.0 Premium has it too.

The base GT does not have the mirrors that go down when reversing, they do have the folding mirrors though.

I drove my Sorento for years not knowing it had this feature, as I left the L/R switch in the center - isn't that the point, to prevent you from accidentally adjusting a mirror? Requiring it to be in the L or R is counterintuitive!

Has anyone else had this issue? When putting the car in reverse the mirrors won't tilt downward anymore. I made sure to have the mirrors set to auto and it know its working because they retract when I lock the car.

I also wish it was on a separate button, but oh well.

'anymore' implies they used to work. I'm going to guess that was when the mirror adjust selector L/R switch was either in 'L' or 'R' where it has to be for them to tip down automatically in reverse.

It's not the switch for folding the mirrors in when locked or when you want them just folded in. It's the switch used for adjusting your mirrors. Left lets you adjust the left mirror and right lets you adjust the right mirror. Centered does not allow adjustment. If the switch is either left or right, the mirrors will tilt down when in reverse. When centered they will not tilt down in reverse.

IIRC, mine it set to center and it tilts down in reverse.

Here's where it comes down to reading the manual where it talks about the driver side door switches.

I must have accidentally bumped my switch this morning or something because for the first time ever my mirrors did this and I was so happy because it makes it so much easier to park correctly on the little pad in my garage, and to back into spots with a curb. I had no idea the car even had this feature.

Does anyone notice that their side mirrors fold in at different speeds after locking the car? This isnt a major issue but its bothersome seeing it tucks in on an out of sync manner.

You mean that one mirror folds quicker than the other, right? I don't think I've seen that issue on my car.

GT2 AWD. Has to be in L or R to work.

Glad you guys posted about this. I was wondering if mine would do this and it never did. However, that's because I always left my power side mirror switch in the middle...never flipping it left or right. Too bad the switch has to select L or R and not just tilt the mirrors in reverse. I usually leave the switch in the middle so I don't accidentally hit it and adjust my mirrors.
