I'm aware there's already a thread about this issue.. but I feel as though it can't hurt to spread the word of it further.

By simply lifting the wiper arms off the windshield when not in service mode.. THIS can happen. 20180412_172511.webp

It's super important to put the wipers on service mode if you want to change them. Or to beat them clear of ice in the winter. If you don't they scrape the back edge of your hood rather easily. Mine was down to bare metal. After you kill the engine just hold up on the wiper control switch for a few seconds for them to clear the hood.

Sanded it smooth with 800 grit

Sprayed it new.. Never buffed the clear blend in this picture.. But it's since been done and looks pretty factory. Most importantly its protected from rust now.

If you don't have the means to sand & spray it like I did then touch it up. Check for this damage!! and spread the word! I was certainly surprised when I saw this after only owning my stinger for several weeks.

I put 3m clear bra material along the edge of the hood to protect it from damage as well ...............invisible

Good call. Certainly worth it just incase. I caught myself almost doing it again on the new car. I was so used to tapping them on my optima to clear them of loose snow and ice. Hard to break old habits haha

Good call, doing clear bra to my Stinger next week, I’ll get the to add some there. Am also adding some by the air out vent behind the front wheels, I find that the pebbles they put down on the roads for winter builds up inside that vent. Don’t want them coming out and hitting the side of the car, wish the made a mesh grill for that area. Seems like us Canadians have to find little tricks cause of our weather.
