What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Walked back to my car after work to see this. You know exactly what had happened . There are certain scum Now I gotta see how good my touch up skills will be. Question, if I had Xpel, would that have prevented the paint from chipping off? Or the bumper would’ve been doomed either way?
There should be a special place in Hell for those people. So sorry!!!

Geez. That sucks!! Some morons are so sub-human they just cannot stand it when someone else has something nice and could care less about what they do. Did it happen in a parking lot with a security camera??

I agree Digital.. lot a SHIT rolling around this world!

I think it might have made getting the paint transfer off easier, but I'm not sure it would have kept from chipping.

Ya, it happened at a large subway parking lot (Finch Station for those who know). Not sure if there are cameras. I do have a cheapie dashcam that doesn't have the parking monitor feature....I guess I know what my next investment will be! It sucks, and you can't really do much preventative measures to accommodate for dimb-witted drivers. One of those things you just sigh about and move on. After repairing, I definitely will invest in Xpel and Ceramic coating - not bulletproof but maybe those would've prevented actual paint chips.

I've been told by some auto shop detailers that the Stinger has soft paint. I'm beginning to think this is true as I also have some stone chips. Paint also seems a bit on the thin side. Wonder if this explains how easily the paint peels from those disastrous rebadging attempts.

I'm as far from as a paint expert as it gets, but I've wondered if those cases occurred because the badges are actually mounted to plastic parts rather than metal, and perhaps the paint is less adhesive to plastic than metal. (Most of the hatch, and presumably the nose are plastic.)

Debadging is all in the technique. Had no problems with mine. Got to cut through the adhesive as close as you can to the badge with 50lb test line (lubricated with WD40). Use new line as you go. Don't scrape near the paint. No heat required. Getting the rest of the badge adhesive off with Automotive Goo Gone is the hardest part.

Yep no heat gun required. And yes that badge adhesive is a b.... to take off.
I would also add you need to buff and polish the area after removing the badge and before placing the new one on.
