I do NOT condone speeding.

Notably, zero cars or bicycles or pedestrians pass during this ~5 minute interaction (edited down to just 1m:41s)

Just my luck on a country back road.

Lol. You fell into the 20 MPH trap. I am describing how you can easily be going that much - and you were very close - above the speed limit and not feel it in this car. Still, after almost seven years, I can find myself pushing well above the "9 you are fine" mark - that's miles per hour. Nice copper, knocking your fine down like that. How did you get the video? Do they send them on request or do they send them as policy?

I received this letter in the mail... I noted the portion circled in red. And I figured requesting disclosure couldn't hurt, I expected only some notes.

To my surprise, within about a day, they replied with a link to download this video.

I am pleasantly surprised at how effective and efficient the process was, I'm just not terribly enthused that I got caught.

I'm not at all concerned with paying the fine, I am solely concerned with the potential for an insurance premium increased for the next several years based on this moving violation...

Do the crime, pay the fine! But in Ontario, any threat of an insurance premium increase is a valid consideration.

111 in an 80! Absolute maniac! Oh wait, it's commiemetres...so about 68mph in a 50.

Can't tell if that road gets curvy enough to need a lower limit, but looks like the state routes/state highways that would be 55mph here (if it has many cross roads), or 65mph if access is limited.

If you are curious, it was right here!

I was very curious and took a "tour". Thornton Rd definitely does not need to be faster than posted - too many driveways.
Hilariously, ironically, coincidentaly, serendipitously - I don't know what the right word is here.

About ½ a year before my speeding ticket, 175 days earlier, on this same road..... I passed by this "INVERTED PARKING" on the same road, approx ~1.6 km south (1 mile) of where I was pulled for speeding...

Speeding was Jan 22 2024
"INVERTED PARKING" was 175 days earlier, July 31 2023. Fun times.

He seemed rather unruffled by that, and maybe most of his "off" look was directed at you for passing to get a looksee three times. Ha hah.

Lol..

I passed by once, trying to process what I just saw.. I turned around to offer assistance, and then I went home.

I used to drive on that road daily on my way to and from work. Only one time, did I see an inverted vehicle crashed on the side.

You fighting it to get points removed?

That would be nice!!
But not really (though it would be nice), the decision whether to pay or challenge the ticket must be made within 15 days.

At the time, over a year ago, I decided to challenge. So here we are.

It takes over a year to get a court hearing for a speeding ticket in your neck of the woods of .ca?

This one did...
Offense date was Jan 22 2024.
Court date is scheduled for April 2nd 2025 (436 days)...

Um... No words to describe this level of delay. so 68mph in 50... eh... he could of let you go with a verbal warning, especially if you were doing so in a safe manner.

I used to drive this route to work everyday...

Specifically because there are no other cars...
But on this one day, there was one other car... The cop car

You can see how many cars pass us in either direction during the transaction, zero.

challenge ... be polite, have a reasonable excuse ... local cops/judge only want the ticket money. plead to pay fine, but have points removed so your insurance doesn't go up (the REAL punishment) ...

In Ontario, insurance looks at moving violations/convictions, not demerit points, so even a 0 point ticket can affect your insurance rates.

Better explained here:

In Ontario, insurance companies don't directly base premiums on demerit points, but they do consider the underlying convictions that lead to those points, as these convictions indicate a higher risk level.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

Demerit Points vs. Convictions:

Demerit points are assigned by the Ministry of Transportation for certain traffic violations, but insurance companies are more concerned with the convictions themselves (being found guilty in court or paying a ticket).
How Convictions Affect Insurance:
A conviction, regardless of the number of demerit points, can lead to increased insurance premiums, as it suggests a higher risk of future accidents or violations.

Examples of Convictions that Impact Insurance:
Speeding tickets (even those without demerit points)
Driving without insurance
Red light camera tickets
Impaired driving/driving under the influence
Stunt driving

I would caution against taking the trial route on your own. you might get lucky and the officer doesn't show up. Or you might not.

Not sure what your province/township would allow, but the courts at most jurisdictions here in the US will allow you to plea to a lesser offense, like parking violation, in exchange of paying court fees and maybe attending driver improvement class. Typically a lot easier if it's a local jurisdiction, where you can just go to the courthouse, even before the specified court date, and just go in front of the judge. Most are nice enough to work with you to downgrade to a lesser offense. The driver improvement class is a drag for sure but don't have to be a bore. Quite often, there are standup comedians that "teach" these classes to supplement their income. Time passes pretty quick when they turn dry topics into strings of jokes. Some of them offer classes in a buffet restaurant, so food and drinks are included.

Even if it is out of town, it is still possible to plea down. Some courts have online system to let you do this. Others don't, so you might just have to hire a lawyer and spend a few $100's on top of the court fines. Still, that is better than taking the hit on your insurance premium for the next 3-1/2yrs.

I will neither confirm nor deny I have done any of the above. Just thought I would mention what I know.
