Looks good from any angle... Even this one.

I got the full PDF file disclosure the other day.

Looks like this is the device they used

DEVICE: BEE III Directional Radar System SN: BEE123500030
I am qualified to operate the Radar speed measuring device and know it to be operating according to the manufacturer's specifications in that I performed the tests recommended by the manufacturer. Device working properly. The Radar is used to accurately measure the speed of a motor vehicle. Tests were done prior to and after my shift as per usual practice.
OBSERVATIONS: I observed the motor vehicle that appeared to be travelling faster than the posted 80 km/h speed limit travelling in the northbound lane. I activated the Radar and obtained a reading of 111 km/h. I had a clear unobstructed view of the motor vehicle and never lost sight of the motor vehicle. I pulled the motor vehicle over and made a demand for documents. I completed my re-qualification on February 25, 2022. We requalify on all speed enforcement used by the service at the same time. At the time of the offence, I was travelling southbound, in the opposite direction as the subject motor vehicle. The Radar was in moving mode at the time.
COMMENTS:
This shall serve as my only notes in this matter.

In Ontario, insurance looks at moving violations/convictions, not demerit points, so even a 0 point ticket can affect your insurance rates.

Better explained here:
So why bother fighting it other than to remove points and knock it down to save a few $$. Hoping the cop doesn't show? Judge will probably look a the fact he already reduced it and you would be stuck with court fees on top? When I got mine at 110 in an 80 it was during Covid. Took just over a year to get my Zoom meeting. Cop wasnt on call if I remember and Judge knocked it down to 15 over. Luckily never hit my indursnce.

My last speeding ticket sometime in 2020, simply evaporated. It was "dismissed" with no trial date, no fine, no conviction.

That's why I opted for the same option this time, requested a trial.

Conclusion:
100%, the expected result. I was informed that the officer was on site in the courtroom.
I plead guilty to the amended charge. Court was scheduled for 2:00 p.m., I disconnected the zoom call at 2:24 p.m.

Unfortunately this does represent a minor moving violation that my insurance company can access

Amended charge
  • Speeding 15 over (80 zone)
  • 0 demerit points
  • $45.00 fine (90 days to pay)
Original charge
  • Speeding 20 over (80 zone)
  • 3 demerit points
  • $95.00 fine (15 days to pay)

Will this behavior modification technique actually work? I doubt it ;).

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Turns out that $45 is actually $61.04 after a $15 victim surcharge and a $1.04 handling fee

Victim surcharge? I wonder what agency gets to pocket that money?

Does ON offer anything like this?

(From Washington state)
(5)(a) Except as provided in (b), (c), and (d) of this subsection, in hearings conducted pursuant to subsections (3) and (4) of this section, the court may defer findings, or in a hearing to explain mitigating circumstances may defer entry of its order, for up to one year and impose conditions upon the defendant the court deems appropriate. Upon deferring findings, the court may assess costs as the court deems appropriate for administrative processing. If at the end of the deferral period the defendant has met all conditions and has not been determined to have committed another traffic infraction, the court may dismiss the infraction.
The only ticket I ever got for exceeding the speed limit (in a Mercury Topaz, no less) never happened, according to the court. No impact on insurance rates either.

That sounds reasonable, I am not aware of any similar process in Ontario.
