Hey y'all. Yesterday morning my Stinger started with the "Forward safety system disabled. Radar blocked" message recurring in totally clear conditions. Virtually no clouds in the sky, 80°F, no obvious obstructions in/on the front of the vehicle. Pretty clean around that area of the front bumper cover.
Started giving me this issue in the AM yesterday, figured it was some freak occurrence due to the angle of the very bright sun, but it continued happening and happened about 4 or 5 times within 20 minutes of driving in various conditions (under tree cover, in the sun, in traffic, no traffic, etc.) in the afternoon. Had it happen again once today so far, same excellent weather conditions, but I expect it will happen again.
Anybody else experienced this?
Probably going to remove the front bumper cover to see if there is anything going on in there. I did recently install the BMS intercooler which involves installing the brackets in the area of the radar hardware, maybe that has something to do with it? I'll report back on that.
Thanks for any input.

Edit: Also wanted to mention that I've noticed the collision warning popping up recently where it is mostly or entirely unwarranted, like driving down a road at about 20 miles an hour where there are no other vehicles or objects in front of me.

Something like this happened to me the other day although the difference was a car in the opposite lane coming toward me, this was on a neighborhood street. First time that ever happened and it certainly made me nervous the car would suddenly slam on the brakes thinking I was about to be hit.

It seems like the system has become extremely sensitive, to the point where it is basically malfunctioning. I'm wondering if this has something to do with the recent OTA update that someone had mentioned. It would be a very odd coincidence.

I've also found that any changes to the "Forward Safety" settings are reset after turning the car off (basically resetting to Active Assist versus Warning Only or Off), I don't think it should be doing that.

It should not revert from the settings that you selected. I've had all the driver assist nannies turned OFF since I took possession of the car nearly two years ago. None of them have turned themselves back ON.

For sure. That was one of the only ones I had left on, but realized yesterday that the setting would reset after the system was cycled. It's really bizarre and tells me that the issue is probably not the radar itself.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
The only "nanny" that I use is when I put on cruise control. That automatically engages distance maintaining, and it will hit the brakes when that distance is violated.

Just wanted to update this thread. The main issue was caused by the brackets from the Burger Tuning FMIC causing the radar to become angled downwards. The brackets are basically too long in the vertical section which caused significant upwards pressure on the upper portion of the brackets and resulted in them bending and causing the radar to point downwards quite dramatically. After removing those brackets and installing the bracket intended for the G70 that I had modified to work on my Stinger, I was able to set the radar back to basically factory configuration, and haven't had the problem since.
Also, apparently the "Forward Safety" setting is actually supposed to reset after cycling the vehicle.
The head unit does still have it's weird occasional & random glitches, but I think that is to be expected with any "smart" software.
