Oil leak from oil cooler/oil filter housing

I replaced my oil filter housing/cooler in Jan 2023 @ 135,000km (it was leaking badly and left a small pool of oil on ground) and now my new one is starting to show signs of a minor leak again @ 160,000km. Wtf
wtf.. 25k later?

My son just called and said his 2019 GT1 with 64k miles has a leak in the water pump and around the oil filter housing. He is wondering if thats part of the 100k power train warranty, does anyone know.

I hope this isn't telling me that my 2022 GT1 will develop the same issues soon?
I've looked under a 2019 GT2 with about ~40,000 miles and it's dry so I don't think it's completely hopeless, but it is definitely not a good omen.

Looks like I am the next victim of leaking filter housing. I ordered housing and cooler, but I can't find the numbers for those 2 coolant lines. Can anyone help me with that?20240418_221005.webp

unless the lines are damaged there is no need to replace them

part numbers are 254693L200 and 254693L210

Awsome! Thank you! After 6 years and 130k miles it can't be a bad idea to replace them as well, just to be safe. And probably I will replace serpentine belt too. To take the belt off, you need to disconnect one of these coolant lines.

Anyone have the torque specs for the Oil filter Housing assembly and the cooler that bolts to it?

Well… i think the swap went well (time will tell). Took about 3 hours taking my time and cleaning up the engine bay. Used hose clamps on the coolant lines, removed the passenger intake, moved the boost control solenoid to prevent breaking a nipple off, and remove the front skid plate. I actually removed the 4 bolts holding the filter assembly on and then disassemble the cooler inside the engine bay. Wanted to leave that hooked up to prevent losing too much coolant. I assembled the new setup on the work bench, slide it into place, remove the lines from the old cooler and slapped them onto the new assembly. Put the clamps back in place, slide the assembly into place and hand threaded the top assembly bolt. The rest is history. Doing this every 100k miles doesn’t seem to big of an inconvenience considering how solid this car has been. Curious if anyone else has had a similar experience doing it themselves.

good to hear it's pretty straightforward.

Finally did it today.

It was the gasket that is between the oil cooler and oil filter housing. Job is a pain, but you do not need to drain all of the engine oil or coolant as the manual says.

Having the front of the car up on ramps then just draining the oil filter housing no other oil will leak out. Then 2 hose clamps on the oil cooler lines stops the coolant from coming out. What you see in the pictures is whatever coolant was left in the cooler

can this also be done without cracking the waterlines if you are not replacing the cooler?

Did you replace the filter housing also?

I had mine replaced last year at around 135,000km. Sources the parts myself and got my mechanic to install. In total it was around $500 CDN to replace the oil cooler/filter housing + install.
I have the same issue at 94000 would this be covered under warranty?

I am currently dealing with the same thing, 3.3 GT, 82500km. It will be fixed under warranty. I'm just waiting until they hear from the service that the spare parts have arrived.

You can't separate the oil cooler from the oil filter housing without removing it. it's almost impossible to get to the back 2 bolts

If you have the proper hose clamps you can clamp both coolant lines down, and will only lose whatever is in the oil cooler.

I figured if you pull the oil housing off the block can you then get to all the bolts you need on the cooler and NOT have to break the waterlines, then replace the 2 oil seals?

Probably
