My EPB light on the dash is going bananas while I drive. It flashes randomly, it doesnt stay on or off, just seems totally random.

Nothing else seems off with the car other than the light, the brake isnt dragging while I drive, the brake fluid is topped up, the front and rear pads have plenty of life left.

Has this happened to anyone else? Any troubleshooting suggestions?

I feel like maybe I have a loose connection on the harness or something like that.

2018 GT AWD with eshift 28,000 miles.

Not heard or read about this before my guess as you say a loose connection sounds likely.

I ended up ordering replacement rear rotors and pads because under inspection my rear inner pads are very worn and the rear rotors have some vibration under braking. I will clean things up while i have the rotors off and check all connections and with some luck it will go away...

Mine came on a few weeks ago but it was a steady light, I parked and cycled the e brake a few times on and off and it reset itself.
Check the e brake shoes that are inside maybe a lining fell off...is there any scraping noise?

Does the parking brake function normally with the switch, despite this intermittent dash light?

Yup functions normally other than the light from what I can tell.

Nope, no scraping noise and Ive tried engaging and disengaging it several times and the light issue remains. I also disconnected the battery for 20mins and no dice on that even though it was a shot in the dark. Brake fluid is also topped up.

I just read the manual, it says if it detects overheating it can cause it to flash..it doest say however if its the actuator motor heat it senses...I would start with checking the connections to the motors. It might be causing the intermittent fault.
Does the light seem to flicker with bumps or movement?

video would best - showing the flickering while driving.

The flickering is totally random, I'll let you guys know if the rotors, pads and cleaning up of the ebrake and harness connection to the actuator fixes it. I also checked all the related fuses and they all check out.

New rear pads (which it needed) and new rear rotors installed, parking brakes looked fine from my inspection. Cleaned everything up and back together, light is still on but on solid, not flickering like it was before. Parking brake seems tonbe operating normally, added a bit of brake fluid but it wasnt low.

Im out of ideas and worried I might have to go to the dealership to troubeshoot...

You installed new rear pads, which means you had to push the rear brake caliper pistons back into the calipers...

And you still were able to add brake fluid to the reservoir?

How low are the front pads? Surprised you were able to any fluid considering you just pushed back all the rear pistons.

Added brake fluid after the bedding process as a last ditch effort to see if it would fix the light but it was prettg much already at max. Front pads are nearly brand new.

Here is what my rear pads looks like on both sides. The outer pad on both rear has TONS of life left and the rear inner pads are totally shredded. It leads me to believe that either the pistons are seized or something else is at play. Anyone else experience this issue?

I've come to the conclusion both rear calipers are either seized on the outside piston or something is stopping the outside pistons from compressing. Ive had new rear rotors and pads for a week and the visible outside side of the rotors hasnt been touched by the pads even after a brake bedding process. Anyone rebuild their rear calipers before?

I haven't rebuilt these yet, but the parts seem hella cheap @ $6.50 CAD per side.

Your car has the fixed calipers yes? 2 piston in the rear?

I'd pull a rear wheel off, remove caliper, then have a helper very gently press the pedal. You should see both pistons move

Brembo brakes are extremely reliable...odd for one side to seize. Im on vacation all week, you have my number if you wanna throw it on my lift and take a better look.

Yup fixed 2 piston brembos. I discovered that one side has a torn dust boot that also appears to be partically melted possible from heat exposure. I'm hoping that might be the issue and will rebuild that caliper. What a wild goose chase! Im trying anything I can before going to the dealer. I dont trust them at all.

Thanks buddy appreciate you! My father has a lift in his garage so I have local access to a lift but what a nice guy you are to offer that!
