Recommended mods for track day and daily driver Stinger GT AWD

ok great, so i'll just find the generic 19" OEM rims that are staggered (typically 225/245) that have the M. PS4s on them and just be happy with that. A signficantly cheaper investment. Kinda makes me wish I never sold mine BUT I did sell them brand new for $1500. Buying some in decent shape for $600 would be quite the profitsssss.

Curious, how long would these summers last me with 2x year track days (spring/fall)? All other days I use my all seasons. Rims are kept in back shed, not climate controlled but no weight on them.
I would guess 4-6 heavy track days out of a set of summer tires is doable especially if you are driving less than 100% of the cars capabilities. Depends on usage though but let’s say 2 years minimum.

Damn 4-6 track days from brand new to nothing? A track day is 4, 20 minute sessions. That's insane

Ok, this really depends on what kind of track you are doing. AutoX is not very abusive to tires and there are some bigger autoX courses that are still not anywhere near as abusive as a full track, as well as there are smaller "big" tracks. It depends on how many laps and how hard you run on those laps. Lots of variables.

3 years then. Look at it this way, three years is great. But huge variables though. Just hard to predict. You might also like to run those summer tires in the summer not just at the track.

Well, i mean, if what you estimate is true, I am looking at replacing tires every 2-3 years. That's not terrible. Especially if I get the Yokohma V601s that someone posted. Discount Tire is selling them for $600ish. The M PS4s are like $1100

Exactly. Not too expensive considering

Just to comment on this - I got 5 sessions on my PS4s with maybe 5k road miles on them total. The fronts (245-40-18) have some rubber ripped off on one side. The rears (285-35-18) still seem nearly brand new.

I'm looking at another set of wheels, trying to figure out if 18x9 or 18x9.5 is the widest I can go, and then going to try Hankook RS4s, or Conti ExtremeContact Force, probably 245 square so I can rotate all around and have them last a bit longer..

Just watched this last week... you may find it interesting

Sonoma is the same - wears the front driver's side the most.

So, got the two track days in finally last week. I started with the following for tires: OEM 225 x 40 Mich. PS4 on the front, slightly stretched on an 8.5 inch wide rim. 5.5 k miles on them. Rear, 275 x 35 Mich. PS4S, on a 19 x 9.5 rim. Brand new condition, like maybe a few hundred miles on them. Track days were four - 30 minute sessions at VIR, back to back days, so 8 sessions total. I can say the all tires held up extremely well. I would guess another 2 track days possible on the fronts and another 4 track days on the rear easily. I will also say the car did understeer some, in part because of the slightly inferior front tires, and probably the front tire width. I can also say, I babied the brakes and the throttle too much, my instructor was always asking for more throttle. I probably drove the car to 80-85% of max capability just because of my inexperience, which resulted in the tires not getting beat to hell. It was an incredible experience and I look forward to doing it again. The Michelin Tires are the absolute best according to my instructor. If you can afford them, get them!!! also, will be figuring out a track day brake pad and upgrading the brake fluid. Shout out to Ken at KNS Brakes in Cary, NC for helping me with that setup.

I think the PS4s are the best STREET / DAILY tires that won't die on the track immediately. Obviously, there are more track-focused tires (that you wouldn't want to daily) that are stickier or last longer, etc.. I'm going to try the Hanook RS4 or Conti ExtremeContact Force next time around, but as a dedicated track tire.

Did you get a chance to try these out?

Yes, I went with the ExtremeContact Force in 245 square. I'm not an experienced track guy. 2 days at Laguna, and I thought they did ok. A little less traction in the rear than my PS4s, but I had staggered 245 / 285 PS4s at Infineon / Sears Point, and it's a different track.

I've only gotten 2 track days on them so far, hoping to back again later this year, but not sure when. Been laid off for a bit, and am trying to conserve spending somewhat..
