EK1Pro Tune - Sixth Element

Nice! Forgot about the ECU launch!
Yes. so far its been very consistent, its just a matter of getting the right amount of torque requested to be useful for a good launch, but not enough to grenade anything.

That sounds like it’s going to be a pretty nice feature. Is shift line pressure on the tcu tune customizable on order or just standardized for everyone?

as far as I can tell, its standardized, I haven't even thought to ask about it. What I do know is that the car shifts fast and smooth.

that my car does now too. very happy with that

I’m looking forward to it. CPI is getting installed soon and then just have to wait for ek1 lite to come off back order.

Sneak peak: holy…

What's up everybody!

Been lurking this thread for a bit and it convinced me to go the EK1 route over the LOZIC replacement ECU and TCU.

I now already have an EK1 Lite and CPI kit on the way as well as the BMS intercooler.

I went to my local shop today to get a quote on the CPI and intercooler install (I'm doing it myself after a quote for $900) and they mentioned that they actually just started working with EK1 and said they could do a custom dyno tune. However, the tune is from Weistec, who they work with. Has anyone worked with this company at all?

I like the idea of having a tune customized with the car actually on a dyno doing pulls (vs street pulls which I feel may not be as consistent) however with seeing all the work SXTH is doing here I don't want to miss out on the additional experience/expertise tuning the Lamba II platform..

Thanks everyone for the input!

Edit: Also wanted to add, the ECU tune from Weistec is $500 and I'm not sure if that includes dyno time or not as I didn't think to ask..

$500 is cheap for an AWD dyno tune (used to work in a tuning shop with an AWD dyno).

I would assume that doesn’t include time on the dyno, as we charged around $1000-1200 CAD for a full dyno tune.

Yeah I assumed as much... from my understanding then I'd basically be purchasing the Weistec tune as a base tune and they'd continue to add to the tune as they have it on the dyno. Not sure if that would be done with their in house tuner or through communication with a tuner at Wiestec.

The shop appears to specialize in German vehicles but branch out into just about whatever else people want to bring in (GTRs, American etc)

That sounds similar to what we did. You would licence the software and a bunch of baseline maps from a company, then do tweaks based on dyno results or logging. The positive was that company (alientech) had a very good support net.

Though we did once accidentally brick one of the new “tricore” ECU’s from a brand new AMG due to incorrect pin out data. That was an expensive mistake.

Apologize if I missed it in this thread and may not even be an answer since aside from Darrin most haven’t ran Sxth tunes on the 3.3l platform yet, but any estimates of what something like the the Stage 2 Sxth ecu and tcu tune with aux fuel will run with an average driver? 1/8th, 1/4th, 60 ft, 60-130mph. This is just curiosity and impatience getting the best of me. Im trying to hit a mid to low 11 1/4 mile. This platform is amazing me with how cheap it is to hit amazing numbers. At least amazing numbers to me having only ever been in something that did a best of high 12s.

my car will run 11.8s with No launch (just slam on the gas) with the sxth tune I have currently, which is suppose to be a carbon copy of the tune @AWDGT2 has. with a 5lb launch using the brake snip, I ran an 11.64 with a really bad 60 foot time (1.86) at 121mph 1/4 mile trap on the street, and I spun at the start and top of 1st. that same launch should net a high 11.5 on the strip, which is more or less what I am aiming for right now for the IFO bracket, but based off trap speed alone, if I had gotten a good 60 foot time on that run, it should have been an 11.4. Darren has shown me his logs and has been launching on anywhere from 11-15lbs of boost on this tune, which is netting him those low 11s high 10s.

Got it that makes sense. Still great times for the investment.

once you hit a certain point its more about weight removal and traction. the better the tires, the more boost you can launch under.
Got it. That one dude on FB I don’t know if he’s on here, Brandon is hitting mid 11s map 6 jb4 only somehow. Dragy verified. That’s crazy.

I know who you're talking about. He is launching with lots of boost and going downhill. You can see it in the draggy runs.

Ah ok thought his dragy had some positive slope runs but I might be mistaken. I definitely won’t be launching my car with high boost and am looking more for solid 60-130 or 40+mph onward times.

Is it known if a copy of the stock TCU data is saved before being flashed? I still haven’t found confirmation whether or not there is any of the GTS drift mode programming that resides in the TCU or for that matter if there are any LSD differences of programming that reside in the TCU.

I don’t know for sure if the TCU is different between the GTS and other models. I mainly know there is a difference between the E and H shifter, but for both ECU and TCU for your calibration ID, there is a free “stock” flash file to return the programming to.

Well, based on that you can just plug and play a LSD from a RWD car into any of our AWD cars, the difference would have to be in the programming somewhere. Logically it would make sense if the extra programing just told the front diff to not engage, as you can get the same effect by pulling the AWD fuse when the car is not on.
