I just got a 2018 GT2 with 34K miles for $40K after tax as a used car from a used car dealer. I thought it was a bit overpriced but given the current market it is what it is i guess.

My car had some mod to it. It has aftermarket exhaust which is definitely louder than the factory one. I think the factory one is too quiet, but the one on mine is too loud...lol.. how much would it cost me to get some other exhaust to have in between volume?

It also has some addon rear spoiler and fake rear diffuser addon...;lol...

The one issue i have it that it has the dynamic bending light warning light on in the dash that comes on and off. Took it to the local kia dealer. They claimed that the car has been here a few months ago by the prior owner for the same headlight problem and that it is not being covered under warranty because supposedly they had some aftermarket parts installed that somehow damage the headlight. Or so the kia dealer told me. I asked him what it is that caused the damage because i can't see any obvious damage to the light. He couldn't really tell me except keep repeating "I can't tell you". He then kinda say something like i think it might have been a tuner part that has been removed before car was traded in.

The problem is that i am wondering if he is really just bsing or not. I understand that there could've been some tuner parts but if the tuner part really didn't have anything to do with the lights then the light should still be under warranty. And he might just bsing? Maybe i should take it to another kia dealer or even another dealer outside of kia for a 2nd opinion? The lights still come on on both side but i guess it doesn't bend anymore?

The car still has 5 months and 26K miles warranty left. I also paid extra $2400 for 6 yr /72K extended warranty from the used car dealer.

Welcome. You have some Stinger related questions so I’m going to move this topic out of the community lounge and into the main Stinger area.

The DBL issue you describe reminds me of mine (also 2018)

Recently noticed my DBL startup sequence - the right side light seems to lag vs the left side light.

They used to perform this sequence in unison.

Definately should be covered under warranty. I can't imagine any aftermarket accessory causing damage to the headlight motors or controller.

When you turn the steering wheel while the car is stationary, does it suppose to turn? my lights don't seem to turn when i turn the steering wheel while stand still.

So you think this kia dealer is BSing me? I am not sure what his problem is at all if he is getting paid by kia for a repair under warranty anyway.

Without knowing more, yes I 100% believe this is covered under the default factory warranty (if your issue is anything like mine)

Were there any headlight modifications that would void the headlight DBL warranty?

i don't believe so. I couldn't see any sort of damage when i open up the hood and look. and there is no sign of exterior damage. I asked the guy specifically what exactly he seeing as the problem that is causing the damage and all he can say was some aftermarket part but he won't specify anything more. I kept pressing him and he then just said possibly some tuner part that has been removed but he still won't answer my question anymore. He never said anything about an aftermarket light either.

I smell a little BS if you are asking me. Maybe i should take it to another kia dealer or even an independent mechanic for 2nd diagnosis?

Another dealer yes - for warranty

Indipendant mechanic? Why, they can't help you with warranty. You either need 1 headlight or 2 headlights, or the AFS controller.

Do your lights perform the the startup sequence at all?

Pretty bs to me. What tuner/mods would effect the dbls? Unless he swapped his headlights or something prior but highly unlikely.

Also OP I have the 18 with the DBLs. I've noticed when it's colder out, I get the light on the dash mentioning dbls aren't functioning properly. When it's warmer out, it works fine. It's pretty random really. I'd assume due to the colder temps it restricts the movement of the bending lights perhaps.

There was a bulletin on this issue iirc.

You have a link to this bulletin?

My DBL's worked perfectly all winter for the first 3 winters... This is my 4th winter, and now they are beginning to act up.

I'll be going to Kia soon enough, but I really dislike going there for anything. (Low end dealer experience)

Kia mentioned there was. I can't seem to find any Info on it though. What my dealer mentioned awhile back vaguely.

Yes it does seem to dance around when i start up my car. I will have to watch a youtube video of a normal one in slow mo to see exactly what is different about mine.

It doesn't affect the driving at night as it is right now. Both lights come on just fine. I just don't like to have the warning light on my dash and also I want to get it fixed if possible if there is any chance this can be covered under warranty as i have no idea what else can happen down the road.

That BS kia dealer quote a price of $2.4k to get it fixed ;(

So if I am at stationary, when i turn the wheel, the light also supposes to turn right?

I have a 2019 and had to have both headlights replaced (on separate occasions).

They were replaced under warranty.

Your dealer is full of shit, they need to prove that an aftermarket mod caused a failure, not just speculate.
Escalate this as high as you can go, because those headlights are very expensive and this is a well known issue with stingers.

What were the issues with yrs? Did they ever get stuck in an unusable position?
As of right now, even though my dbl warning light is on, it seems like the up and down is still working and I can still get good front illumination. I don't want an issue down the road when it would be a problem though.

Yep. They do go up and down on mine and also I think a bit left and right too
My left headlight in post #4 is what they are "supposed" to do as the startup sequence.
