What Dash cam do you use for your stinger?

I use the Garmin tandem. Fairly solid camera. It's more of an Uber style though with the additional rear-facing camera. That was my solution to not wanting to futz about with a rear camera. Plus you get bonus reactions from friends when taking corners hard.

I use parking mode unless I am parked at my house (I have house cameras, so no need). The parking mode was fairly simple to set up, but I spliced it in to the cabin power cable instead of using fuse taps or the ODB II connector. The first box I got from Amazon was bad but Garmin replaced it with no issues. The only other problem I have is voice control is hit or miss. Haven't spent any time with tech support to get it fixed though.

Just saw a recent post from a user here of an accident they got in and they were glad they had dash cams, and it reminded me i still need to get one. What do you all recommend or use? Looking for something that doesn't obstruct my view too much and preferably one with a front and rear camera and good quality video.
blackvue 2ch dr900x
i tried the LTE Module, got a data plan, got a blackvue cloud plan, all because i wanted to be able to remote view my car, either the data would always be used up or the battery cut off. so now no more LTE module, paying for data plans.. now i just wifi into it thru the blackvue app if i ever need to get a video.

plus the motion detection never worked after changing settings, it would constantly go off. thats even after updating firmware. annoyed the shit out of me. i paid a lot of money for those and they dont work as advertised.

Ive got 2 nexars, one in each ride. Free unlimited cloud, and direct to phone stream with ability to do clips when wanted. Nothing hi-tech but works good for me. Parking stuff is a lil touchy. Close the hatch and it records due to the impact of the close but im not going to complain, its working the way it should. No rear cameras yet but they will come

^^Got some sample videos? How readable are the plates?

i've been crazy busy lately, so aside from installing it and setting it up, i haven't even had a chance to mess with the app much or check out videos from it.

here is a review, with dashcam video at the 7:00 mark (if the video doesn't start there ...)

Thanks for the link. Plate readability doesn't seem all that impressive unless you're right on top of the vehicle in front. From 20'+ away looks grainy.

Now that may be youtube mangling of the video, so one needs to look at the source to really determine how readable it is. Night time doesn't appear too clear.

On the plus side, the color accuracy seems really good.

i got a REDTIGER front/rear 4k/2.5k dashcam because it had all the features i wanted (WiFi, GPS, Night Vison, loop recording, G-sensor with parking mode).

$149. i wasn't dropping $800 on a damn dash cam
:D
I have this same one, I picked it up a few weeks ago. Has been working well, so far.

Has anyone with cams more affordable than BlackVue (for instance) been able to long term test the camera in consistent extreme summer heat like we get in LA or a place like Phoenix, etc? And I’m talking long term.

Also much love to us folks mistyping OBD II as ODB bc clearly we love Old Dirty Bastard (rip).

I'm still using a mobius action cam from 2014. I cycle the 128gb card every so often (2x year?). If they have a 4k version i'd consider it.

It's been used with ambient temps of 90+ here in chicago. Still seems to work ok. Not the clearest for recording plate details however.

Ha! Good catch. I'll leave mine for posterity.

Thinkware U1000 4K UHD Dual-Channel Cloud Dash Cam

...but I'm not using the cloud functionality because I'm determined to find a way to tap into the Stinger's internet connection rather than purchase a hotspot device from AT&T or LTE module - which are prohibitively expensive.

Anyone know how to access the car's wi-fi?

^^Tempting. I've been wanting to replace the mobius for some time now. Video quality is adequate at best, but doesn't show plate detail.

$500...$$$$ are these ever on sale?

I would not recommend the Garmin Tandem I have. It works well as a camera most of the time but the voice commands stopped working period which really sucks as I think it is the only way to take snapshots. It also from time to time freaks out and makes me format my SD card.

I got the one below during Black Friday for like $150.
Quality is good. I shut off the in cabin camera and increase the pixel for front and rear. The rear camera could be better but it gets the job done.

Only thing I don’t like is when I gets really hot the front camera will fall off sometimes.

What do you guys think of this? I just hope they did it for the Stinger. I'm gonna write and ask.
It is my dream solution.
I cannot stand any messiness in my car. Even air vents need to be aligned and have been, in every car I've owned, for the past 16 years :). So traditional dash cams are a nightmare for me.

blackvue can deal with desert heat. had mine for a few years now. cabin gets well over 100 in utah heat.
