I don't follow your logic.

I am granting Kia the presumption of rationality, so I am assuming soundness in Kia's methodology for determining its standard for engine oil. The question is not a vague and subjective low vs. high, it's simply "does it meet Kia's standard?"

If the oil is ILSAC GF-6A and API SP, it meets Kia's standard. It is appropriate. There is no higher standard to meet.

If you wish to pay for pretty labels or to pay the salaries of boutique-oil marketers, well, I guess you can do that, but they have nothing to do with properly maintaining your car.
Kia's recommendations and methodologies are ambigious, vague and borderline nonsense.

Example,

For the 2018/2019 Stinger, Kia states on the owners manual to use an "5w30 ACEA A5 or higher" oil.

No, it doesn't. It only gives you the range.

As times getting harder we all are looking for excuse to use cheap shit. I saw inflation coming and did some prep. Buying a lot of amsoil 5w30 was one of them (the price has doubled since than). I should be good for couple more years.

5tinger. I was clearly talking about weight of the oil

Thread concluded.

The Stinger is not a Corolla, and this is reflected in its lubricating requirements too.

Besides, the idea is to get the desired oils when they're on sale.

Alright everyone, good talk. TLDR, Use the Amsoil 5w30 if you are stock/lightly modded, use the Pennzoil platinum 5w40 If you are heavily modded as it holds up to higher power levels better.

Meeting adjourned.

Define what is suggested by above ACEA A5? Pure ambiguity.
i like how it says "for better fuel economy " how about for better engine life ...

Now i am wondering, will it be better to use 15w40 or even 20w50 for summer time only?

i dont think you need to go that heavy , 5/40 should be very good for most modded applications

I wonder how Amsoil Signature 5W-30 would compare to Penn Platinum 5W-40.
