What did you do to your Kia Stinger today?

Hung out with some half brothers and sisters at Cars and coffee this weekend, Two S5's There in the photo, and an RS5 and Older S8 (I think, I didn't catch the model of it, but it was when they where round and Bubbly instead of sleek like they are now) had their spots held for them. They where really friendly and accepted me as their half brother because of how much of our cars where designed by the dude Kia poached from Audi. After talking with them for a while, it does really seem like the S5/RS5 are just the much more polished versions of the stinger, which makes sense given the price point.

I was actually debating between a 2018 s5/Stinger and even gave the dealership notice on purchasing one and they had it ready for pick up. But last minute I pulled out when I drove the stinger with similar performance and way better cost.

The cost/performance/quality ratio is what makes the stinger a great buy. Not much else on the market that can touch it on the market because of the hatchback. Though ill be the first to admit, if the G70 shooting brake ever makes it stateside, I will be kissing my stinger goodbye and not looking back. Im a sucker for a nice wagon.
 
Today I installed a new set of wheels. The 2021 Genesis G70 ones. I plan to use the stock ones for the winter tyres.
I got them at a good price and just in time because my rear summers were done.
Was not all smooth though. They did not have the center cap and the lug nuts of my 2019 19" rims also did not fit. And, because I really wanted to fit them today I bought silver lug nuts and center caps. I am satisfied with how it looks but maybe black ones would have been better.

Was not all smooth though. They did not have the center cap and the lug nuts of my 2019 19" rims also did not fit. And, because I really wanted to fit them today I bought silver lug nuts and center caps. I am satisfied with how it looks but maybe black ones would have been better.

I did think of that. But, this is after I've been using aftermarket 18" wheels for 3 winters that also came with their own lug nuts. Never thought about the spare. Thankfully, never needed it :eek:

My stinger still has stock wheels but my truck has aftermarket wheels and the lug nuts are completely different, so it dawned on me a few days later that I would need the OEM ones for the spare.

Recently, when I had to take my RF TSW wheel off and put the MY18 donut on, I wondered if the aftermarket lug nuts would match the OEM lug nuts: I had no way to find out, since all four sets of lug nuts were sitting in my shed at home. Hah! I proceeded to use the lug nuts I use with my TSWs and made it the c. five miles home, gingerly: then the next morning the c. 1.5 miles to Big O Tires. Still not positive that those lug nuts are matched to the donut. But I got away with it. :p I have since taken a set of OEM lug nuts out of the shed (edit: just ten minutes ago :rofl: ) and put them in a Ziploc bag in my car, just in case.

If it hadn't been for your post reminding me, I'd have gone on next month's road trip to Wisconsin without assuring that the donut has matching OEM lug nuts.

Made the decision that if the G70 Shooting Brake comes to the USA with the 3.3T or the 3.5T as an option, I will be trading in my stinger that day. Its probably the only car under 100K that could get me out of my stinger right now.

Wheels look good, leave the chrome wheel nuts they look fine.

Will be very interested to see how this holds up over time.
I was keen on one but concerned over torsional loads stripping the threads where the allen keys connect.
I don’t think these braces carry any torsional loads, granted they are mounted to the strut towers but the other end is mounted to the front apron/radiator support.
I think these braces provide support for the front apron & are part the ”crumple zone” in the event of a front end collision.

The existing braces don't carry any torsional load but the cross bar that's bolted to the forward facing braces probably will take 'some' torsional load and being billet alloy it will likely show up in the threads failing. A lot will depend on how the car's used but again, we'll wait and see.

This is the one I want but it's pretty $$$
