2022 (US) sequential tail lights retrofit?

I probed each harness, but I did get different readings. The driver side was showing much lower voltage vs. the passenger side. However the signal is so fast it is sort of hard to track

I still have yet to play with adding the resistors to my Korean lights- I did size it up, but the wires are so thin, I didn't want to probe and damage good wires....could you please positively identify exactly which colored wires you tapped into and which ones were 12VDC and GND. This would be a huge help to everyone looking to complete this mod. I would disconnect the drivers side resistor and see if they revert back to hyperflashing...you must've got the passenger side correct..
Good luck :D

This is my first post ever on this forum, and I feel obligated to share as this page has helped me a lot with installing new Korean sequential turn signals. I just finished installing these signals with no hyper flashing for my new 2022 Stinger GT-Line (2.5T).

I also got information from Korean YouTube channels since I can understand Korean.

If you are upgrading from the hideous incandescent turn signal in the 2022 Stinger GT-Line (2.5), you also need to buy two load resistors. One resistor for the driver's side and the second one for the passenger's side.

This picture shows the back of the new LED turn signal. For the resistors, I have connected the cord that says "looks a bit like orange & black" (turn signal) to the black cord (ground) right next to the orange and black line. They are the same for both driver's and passenger's sides.

The load resistors I bought had those red clips, but I had trouble a bit initially because the orange and black cord was thin.

The only thing I have left to do is to find a good place to screw in those resistors.

This is a huge help, another pic or 2 of the resistors attached directly to the wires would be great. Also, my load resistors had 12+ and GND so I don't know if they need to be biased?

Welcome and good going. A first post that offers help is a rare thing, and as good as it gets.

Sorry, can't help you with this. I'm colorblind. I can only guess.

Probe through the connector.

So these aren't actually plug and play on the 2022s? Or is it that some are fine and others are not? I know the center piece is not plug/play on the 18-21 cars.

I am not an electrician so do not quote me on it. This is literally my first time messing with wires or cords of that nature in my life other than the physics class I took back in high school (which I do not remember).

From the Korean YouTube channels I watched, they recommended connecting load resistors accordingly to 12+ and GND. So the 12+ side would be connected to the "looks a bit like orange & black" (turn signal) and the GND side would connect to the black cord (ground). I will try to add pictures later in the day to make it clearer. And I think some load resistors do not have those "12+" and "GND" sides like mine. Or maybe I got lucky and just installed them correctly. The manual on my load resistors did not specify any sides, so I am just guessing any sides work fine on certain brands.

I will make this clear, at least for US 2022 Stingers.

GT2 and GT2 scorpion come with non-sequential LED turn signals, so they are plug-and-play since LED signals were installed from the factory.
GT-Line and I believe GT1 (not too sure about GT1 cause I rarely see them) come with non-sequential incandescent turn signals. You do need to buy load resistors and install them to each left and right turn signal (so you need to buy two load resistors in total). Other than that it is plug-and-play.
You do not need to buy the centerpiece for the US 2022 Stingers, just left and right turn signals.

However, I do need to warn people who are interested in buying these OEM sequential turn signals. Taking the garnish out without breaking the tabs that hold the garnish in place is pretty difficult. It took 80% of my installation time.

I have a 2020, so yes I would need the center piece for my car, which I read somewhere something needs to be drilled for the center taillight section to work. I was just wondering out loud about the 2022s.

Idk if it's the same on the Stinger but on my 01 Lightning, for me to be able to swap in LEDs, I had to buy this bigger type fuse that I installed so it wouldn't hyperflash. It was the main fuse that controlled all the lights. It was the easier option then installing the resistors for each light. Not sure if that'd work on the Stinger.

I see. I just wanted to clarify or confirm facts for people who are new to the forum or interested in installing these turn signals in the future.

Do you mean LED flasher relay? If that is what you are talking about, I believe Kia discontinued using that for almost a decade now. I tried searching up flasher relay for Stingers because it is an easier fix, but I think that it's integrated with ECU or something like that.

Yeah, that's it. My truck it pretty old 2001, so that's what I swapped in and all the LEDs work. Was an easy fix. Pull the old one out, put the new in. No resistors to mess with.

I have a US 22 GT2. They were plug and play. I didn’t do anything other than just plug them in.

Yes, the GT2s come with non-sequential, but LED taillights, to include LED turn signals on the GT2- the reason why the load resistors are not needed. All other models will need the resistors BC they come with incandescent turn signals.

I wonder what they did on the 18-21 models? I have a 2020 base gt and I'm pretty sure it has LED turn signals. Maybe I'm wrong but they seem awfully bright to only be incandescent bulbs. I know for certain the backup lights were not LED cuz I swapped those out for LED bulbs.

Sorry, it has been raining the past couple of days, and I am in vacation now so it will take me a while to post photos of load resistors.

Here is a video of mine. It shows the difference between the two turn signals.

The stock turn signal for the 2022 Stinger GT-Line is incandescent as you can see from the video.

This is a pic of the load resistors I have, you can see 12V and GND.

i'm pretty sure until 2021, all v6 gt models had led turn signals, starting with 2022, only the gt2 got led turn signals even though the kia spec sheet says gt1 gets led turn signals from what i've seen posted... .

Just wanted to confirm the orange/black wire is indeed the positive and the solid black is the negative. The wires are so thin, it really helped me from poking healthy wires. I couldn’t use the Posi-taps I like so much with the wires so thin, I used vamp clamps- which I really do not like at all, but it worked, so my hyperflashing is gone. Happy with no more extra lights on my dash and hopefully it stays that way.
Love the sequential lights, much more of a premium feel and they match the front honeycombs perfectly.
Thanks.

How bad would this look in the meantime? Had my son do a crude mock up.

I don't know if I like the idea of drilling into my hatch area.

Aren’t you just enlarging holes that are already there?
