Until I’m ready to pull the trigger on the Johnny tig intakes I will most likely just get some k&n or Aem drop in panel filters and pair those with snorkels. My question is should I double back and get the jt intakes or leave the stock panel drop in filters with snorkels ? Would there be measurable difference between the two ? Megan Catback will be installed once it gets here first but wanted to gain some clarity on the best intake set up or if it is needed. Afe has a cai intake option as well but not produced yet still in r &d phase.

Gains from a CAI of any brand are negligible. It’s all about the sound. Panel filters won’t change the sound. The JT intake looks cool but is way too expensive for what it is IMO.

That AFE intake does look nice but with it’s closed design it may lack some of the sound benefits the open filter ones have.

To my point exactly. The jt intakes would be just for a nice clean engine bay setup. I have heard members report the jt intakes are the best performance wise on the butt Dyno so just wanted to get the most out of the intake set up. Not really big on the woosh sound I don’t mind it but I would prefer some performance gains over just the sound. It was a poll on the forum on a intake thread and majority of ppl agree to keep the stock panel boxes with snorkels as this was discovered to be the biggest restriction point in the intake setup system . Thanks

Afe is a good middle ground and could be considered a good option and true cai paired with snorkels imo

Could be. I do like AFE products. It’s expensive though and unlikely gains will be much different than AEM or K&N with a risk that it doesn’t provide the sound. If price and sound are not a concern, go for it. Or JT but you’ll be waiting for that one until next year at the rate they move.

You might want to do a little reading on the JT. Delivery and fitment issues are driving people nuts. 8 month + delivery times and no response on fitment inquiries. Ya might want to consider Injen or another brand and save yourself a headache.

Intakes without a piggyback or tune are like someone else said, mostly just for sound, you will see a good bump in power when paired with a tune though.

I have BMS intakes which sound good and are super easy to install. If i could start over Id probably go with the AEM intakes. They're probably the best bang for your buck.

Had no idea they are moving that slow to fulfilling orders smh. It’s no way I’m waiting that long smh

Yikes at that price point fitment issue should be spot on. I emailed jt asking about the cai and were getting back with me on a quote shipped to me. The reviews I read on the jt intakes were good but I may just slow my roll especially with that wait time yikes smh

After hearing about jt I’ll back off. Either Aem or when Afe releases their cai. I’ll shoot for either of those two. Thanks for your input and feedback. Until then I can do the drop in panel filters with the snorkels. Again that wooosh sound is not big for me. Does anyone have the part number for the drop in Aem panel filters ?

Was reading this, this morning. 3.3TT - Jonny Tig intake fitment issue

FWIW, I've ordered from JT twice. The first time was peak pandemic and yeah - it took 6 or 7 months. I'm currently waiting on my second order, which I placed 7 weeks ago as of today. I was told via email that my order is just awaiting paint, and I should expect it to be shipped out no later than next week. We shall see. As far as the fitment is concerned, my first kit had no issues until I totaled my car less than 20 hours after install

Edit: at the time of placing the order, I was quoted "8 weeks, give or take" which was their standard answer even when it was taking people 6-8 mos.

Sheesh my boy 20 hours after install lol. Yeah I’m going to stay clear of jt. The wait time mixed with inconsistency of quality of parts on top of fitment issues smh . Sounds like a headache that you can avoid. I just went with the Aem drop in dry panel filters and will pair those with snorkels .

Jt just got back with me today . Two days for a response I’ll take it. $966 all together shipped to my door east coast U.S. I’ll take a hard pass on just intakes and the problems ppl have fitment wise. And use the money for a better car part
$966?! that's some bs. my quote was $1200 AFTER a $100 "discount"

Edit: I'm a dummy. Forgot to convert currency.

Hopefully, my story can help as well. I ordered the Jonny Tig Intakes back in NOVEMBER and have been on and off emails getting a hold of JT with NO update other than being told back in JANUARY that they were waiting on flanges that would be there by end of the week and then never heard back again..... I will probably make a call to see about getting a refund as having waited 7 months is a bit ridiculous at this point. I was not aware of these issues back in November which is a shame as they appeared to be the best-looking setup out there. Glad to Post more in the coming weeks once I actually track someone over there down and give some more insight into the situation.

That’s a ridiculous wait time . Hope the best out turns out for you. I decided to stay clear of jt intakes and just went with drop in Aem dry panel filters.

Please report back if you pursue the refund. I paid them through PayPal and have considered going through them to get a refund if I continue to wait much longer.

10-4, JT has posted on their Instagram working on some larger projects so i am assuming these orders have been pushed to the way side, I mean any communication would be better than nothing at this point.
