Foundational Base Mods to First Have

Those mods definitely wont add nearly close to that number.

I do believe the stinger stock power is numbered underrated, such as bmws, audis etcs. But simply adding those types of mods are pretty hard to believe gaining that much power.

Give jb4 a shot, no one iirc had a situation like yours with the jb4 on a stinger. Or a full dedicated ecu tune if you want to flirt with sexy numbers.
That’s refreshing to here

A lot of ppl on the q50 forum have them and have not experienced problems (few here and there) . Part of my reasoning as to why I got one. If I did go with a plug and play tune it wouldn’t be the JB4 based solely off my last experience and just wanting to have that peace of mind.
Go either lap3 or Lozic ecu then

426hp, 472 tq with the tune is where you want to be [3:41 into the video]. I can sorta believe that on an aggressive tune. IIRC Tork have blown engines at least once on this platform. He also mentions "Lap3" at the end, isn't that a tune platform?? So not tuned, but we're tuning with a Lap 3? Maybe someone can explain that for me.

The 'stock' numbers are more than you can expect, as AtomicGTL suggested these numbers border on too good to be true. I wouldn't be buying components expecting these results. Honestly, you're better off tuning then adding mods if it were me and I was trying to come anywhere close to 400+ bhp. See where the car gets you on tune alone, then add mods based on the price/performance sweet spot. You're already raising eyebrows at the dealer with the visible mods (assuming you'd seek warranty repair), you mind as well just tune it and get it over with. :p

Because Tork sell stuff, I highly expect this all to be artificially inflated or outright fabrication to drive sales of these parts. All of the claims in the video are in a vacuum, meaning there's no way for any of us to verify anything being shown/stated. And with their reputation fairly tarnished, there's no reason we should take these claims at face value. Viewer discretion

Forgive me still in the newbie phase of this whole car thing. What are the benefits of tuning before adding bolt ons? And when you say tune like a stock tune? Stock tune consist of ?

Install the tune with stock parts only, then start adding bolt ons/mods. See where the car gets you on only the tune. The Stingers have a lot to gain with stock components, their factory programming is conservative. TBH you may reach your goals on a tune alone, depends on the tune and whether you have a unicorn engine. I'd think increasing air intake (CAI, snorkels) and a performance exhaust along with a tune would definitely get you all the way there. Most of the gains will be from the tune though, not the addons.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Thanks for the clarification and clearing that up my guy. Make sense now. I’m buying a used stinger though so would that affect the tune and how much I can get out of it. And if I did go this route tuning the vehicle as soon as I get it would that void my warranty ? Again sorry if these questions seem dumb but I’d rather ask than scathing my head later as to what happen with the vehicle.

Any major change, whether digital to the ECU or physical by adding things bolted to the engine can void the warranty. Dealer has to prove that thing caused the failure, but you're inviting those questions to be asked as soon as you're modding/tuning.

Removing a tune on the side of the road is a possibility, should it break down and need a tow for warranty service. Ethical issue at that point. It's tougher to revert physical addons in the same manner unless you carry a tool chest and all the original parts in the trunk. That's why I've only ever done tunes on cars in the past where I was trying to eek out a bit more. The Stinger is more than I usually need, so haven't felt any desire to start chasing numbers.

Age doesn't matter as much as mileage, at some point the intake valves need to be cleaned due to DI carbon buildup.

When I had the q50 I had an exhaust, lower down pipes and heat exchanger. Warranty work was done and never had a problem. They would have to prove your mods caused the complications with your car is my understanding of the commonly asked question.

I see. Following you now .

Used or new, tunes/bolt ons dont effect performance on either. Unless that used was poorly taken care of ofcourse. But who'd ever do that to a stinger!

I think if youre worried about warranty work, Id honestly just keep it stock with a catback and intakes tops. Once you go beyond that helm, warranty work should be out of your mind.

Now another big thing is dealers. Sure the Q50 you had were good dealers to deal with but KIA is another pain in the taint for service needs.

Catback exhaust (depending on which one and the Gains from each) and intakes should put me at 340-350 ish ? Keeping it mod friendly. Downpipes really don’t provide any significant gains? I know with the q50s the lower down pipes was the biggest bang for your buck

Downpipes do, but again minimal.

I really think you should go the tuning route though.

One bad experience shouldn't hinder your thoughts on tunes. Especially on a completely different car.

There are a lot of options you can go with and there is no right answer in terms of where to start when it comes to bolt ons. I personally would suggest starting out with oil catch cans and intakes. I think to realistically get those numbers you would have to at least get a Jb4 piggyback tune. We got all these options and more at www.K8StingerStore.com. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need a discount.

You completely right man I just need to do some digging and see my options besides the JB4. I see there are others I just need to find one I’m comfortable and confident with that will provide reliability and consistency because this vehicle will be a dd. And I’ve heard horror stories over on the q50 forum about Kia dealerships. I would rather just go to my own auto repair performance shop.
