Anyone else smelling coolant?

Well at least with all of us smelling it every one of us need to have it recorded at service with dealers so we can say its a common problem
Water pump maybe?

I’m begining to think more and more that it might be normal, since the coolant level doesn’t drop ?

I'd be curious to know if owners of Hyundai/Genesis G70 with the same engine as the Stinger (3.3l V6) also smell coolant when the engine is hot and the car is parked? I'm getting used to it now, since I'm not losing any coolant.

yes when the car is very hot i can smell coolant.

All, I have the same issue with my 2020 GT1. Since the weather got cooler I started smelling coolant after parking the car. The reservoir was almost empty when I checked it. After the car cooled I squeezed the upper radiator hose and could hear air squeezing out under the engine cover. Upon further inspection after removing the cover I found it! Buried deep in the front of the intake manifold there is a small coolant hose that appeared to be leaking as there was a small puddle of coolant there. Long story short I showed the tech at the dealer where it was after he couldn't find it and it turns out the lower intake needs to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Do you have a pic?
No the car is at the dealer waiting on a new lower intake to arrive. I'll post a pic of the area when I get the car back.

Ok so hopefully they get the part this week and I get my car back but I'm the mean time I found a picture of a lower intake and circled where mine was leaking. This is at the front of the engine on the driver's side. You have to use a flashlight and look straight down to see this. If you see coolant puddled in this area show it to your dealer because they probably won't spend the time to find it like I did.

Well after 5 weeks in the shop I finally got it back. Don't see the coolant leak anymore but still smell it and the reservoir has gone empty. Hopefully the smell is going away and the reservoir went empty because they didn't get all the air out of the system. Time will tell.

I have a brand new 2022 (bought Sept 24th) and just this past Thursday night, we pull up to a traffic light. My wife says, "I smell coolant.". I tell her it is common occurrence according to this forum and other owners. Weird that this seems to be a continuing thing.

Many owners of a Genesis G70 (with the same engine) are reporting this also. The only time to be concerned about it is if the coolant level in the expansion tank is dropping, meaning there is a leak somewhere. But if the coolant level stays the same (in between Cold and Hot lines), don't worry about it.

This is just so strange. I've owned many cars in my life and I've never had one that smelled like coolant unless it had a leak. I started another thread on this after mine was "repaired" showing it appears to still have very slow leaks or basically seepage. I'm going to clean those areas and see if it returns over the next few weeks.

The level is definitely dropping, but over a longish period of time. Mine dropped ~1/2" in the reservoir in ~3 months time.

That's how long mine was taking until it started getting colder here. Then it got worse and I smelled it more. Mine appears to be leaking at the front of the engine in the area beneath the black foam that's in the middle under the wire harness.

About the same here. 2018 GT Limited with 48 000 km, and I've had to top it off twice in about 2.5 years (about 1/4 of a soda can each time). I've had the Kia mechanics look for a leak, or seepage, each time I had to top it off and there was none that they could find. I'm 56 and this is the tenth car that I've owned and the first one that smells coolant randomly, but without any apparent leak. Strange indeed.

^^I have the 2.5T, no idea what those pics are of. Need a zoomed out view for more context.

My car is a GT1 with the 3.3T so you won't find these areas on your engine anyway. FWIW the area shown is directly in front of the intake manifold in the center of the engine.
