Mando SDC EDS10

Do the other parameters (engine, transmission, throttle response, etc.) still change with the mode selector dial…
YES.

The MANDO ECS only over-rides suspension. All other aspects remain controlled by the mode selector dial.

But as peterpan223 said - his is different, so your experience may vary. I can only speak for my car.

Also... There are different firmware versions out there. Mine is firmware version 1.00.

Interesting.

In another Mando thread, I learned that removing the unit was the only way to get the stock adaptive functionality to return.

If the Mando unit defaults to the settings used when the car was shut down - whether the app is running/connected or not - would unpowering the unit be sufficient to get that stock adaptive behavior or is physically disconnecting the Mando wiring harness required?

Yes, I’m thinking about adding a toggle to the Mando’s power supply line to be able to quickly and easily restore bone stock suspension behavior when required.

I plan to, but I heard elsewhere that the stock suspension stiffens loaded wheels (fronts on braking, rears on acceleration, and outside on corners) and that the Mondo unit may lose this “adaptive functionality”.

I’m very new to the car and defer to the experts here, but I’m already annoyed (at 2000 miles) with the floppy rear end and I’m investigating solutions (like rear sway bar). Data gathering mode. Trying to catch up. Thanks for your patience.

“Floppy rear end.” I think I’m annoyed with the car for exhibiting traits I already possess.

There is a toggle in the software. You don’t need to physically remove to go back to stock.

Mine definitely does not do this. Once set to enabled in the app, My mode selector dial in the car does not additionally change the suspension firmness.

I confirmed with with an OBDII connected tablet reading the live current values to the 4 actuators. I did cycle through the car's drive modes - but not on video

This video doesn't show exactly that - it just shows what the current (A) to the actuators is at various suspension percentages.
This is how mine behaves as well.

Do the other parameters (engine, transmission, throttle response, etc.) still change with the mode selector dial…or is the dial rendered useless?
Those still work normally.

There are Mando ECS built-in calibrations that 100% utilize the adaptive functionality you are talking about.

Additionally, there are 4 more completely user programable calibrations that do not use the adaptive a the same way.

There is no need whatsoever to add an additional switch to the power. The Mando ECS is 100% not active if you have it switched off in the app. All factory settings and drive mode dial is used when the Mando ECS is not enabled.

Lemme try to attach a video

OK, I’m sold.

I like it a lot because it tames body roll and vastly improves the suspension's responsiveness and is easier to feel the tires throughout the turn. Sport mode is absolutely fantastic; I find the Primacy Tour tires vague in feel on the stock calibration but in mando's sport mode I can feel exactly what the tires are doing and where their limits are (I still don't /like/ the tires but these tires are a compromise for comfort by design). The car's character is completely shifted - for the better.

And... the installation is as easy as everyone makes it out to be - - ten minutes if you take your time.

I haven't had much chance to really push the car but around turns the car would previous slide through at the posted limit, with the Mando sport settings the tires begin to squeal but does not push into understeer any more. It feels like I'd be able to get get into some nice oversteer with confidence even on the Primacy Tour tires. I think I'm going with Pilot Sport 4 next spring.

Just installed my Mando ECS10 this week and love it. Completely tames the sloppy/hoppy rear end when it's in sport mode. The install was tricky in terms of running power to the unit. Also, you only need to remove the left side knee panel to expose a grounding bolt, you don't have to take off more than that.

Turns feel SO much better now when in sport mode on the Mando and on the sport mode selector. The rear wheels now follow the car nicely, you can leave rubber when you want to, it turns much flatter and you feel more confidence. It feels like a real sports car now, not just a powerful family sedan.

Now all that's left is front and rear sway bars, sway bar end links, chassis braces, and subframe bushing collars. Lol just kidding, maybe, not really though. That's what it takes to get most of the slop out of the car. Like my roof and doors are the ones that flex now, as the bottom frame rails have nowhere to go. People may say that's too stiff but the ride is more pleasant than my work van...

Subframe bushing collars?…

Kia Stinger - ATQ Subframe Chassis Collar Kit pretty good kit. Not the cheapest but a small price to pay for salvation. Might as well get the ultra racing chassis braces as well, really good combo together.
I’m really happy with the improvement from the Mando alone. This morning the theme song from the mandalorian show came on randomly…. Amazing. Now I’m driving a Korean mandalorian and I love it. Handles so well- reminds me of an M3 now

You will be surprised how much stiffer the car gets. The mando only gets rid of the suspension flex, the body flex itself it can't touch. There is a LOT of chassis flex in this car, it's a hatchback grand tourer after all.

Sounds like another purchase or three coming up for me.

Back to the thread topic, earlier @D.J. said “The Mando ECS is 100% not active if you have it switched off in the app. All factory settings and drive mode dial is used when the Mando ECS is not enabled.” When I asked how to get bone stock suspension functionality.

Where in the app can you “switch off” or “not enable” the controller.

My Korean isn’t what it used to be, I just installed the ECS, and I haven’t selected a suspension setting yet. Before I start mashing buttons…

Thanks.

What does your app say here, while you are connected the Mando ECS10?
