I pulled to a stop light the auto start stop turned off the car. I pushed the button to turn off the feature then my whole car went dead no dashboard lights come on and car won't start at all. Is this a known issue! My car has a recall on the wiring harness and I will get it checked soonhasn't had

Welcome. Moving this out of the forum lounge and into the Stinger section.

Howdy. Wish your welcome into the open wasn't over something uniquely catastrophic. Did you have to get your Stinger towed or what? Never heard of this one before.

Low voltage?

Hello the voltage read 3.3v on my digital multi meter. The tow truck driver jump started my car and it started right away. It's at Carmax now getting checked out. I think it has something to do with the start/stop feature. I pushed the button to defeat the feature and then every thing went dead. Some how the voltage went to 3.3v and turned off the cars computer. I will take it to the dealer tomorrow. Thanks for your reply!

Was this 3.3v read directly from the battery? or somewhere else?

Never heard of anything like that occurring.

2022 stinger gt1 awd, 2 months ago the start stop stopped working when pressing the gas pedal; it used to screw up a lot when it WAS working, everytime i went to put the car in park it thought i wanted start stop to work, so it would shut off real quick then car turn back on once in park to for parking. now ive got a weird metal screech noise coming from under the engine bay somewhere everytime i turn the car off.

also, the child window lock button no longer works- it doesnt lock the windows but the light comes on,
and the back drivers side window doesnt roll down or up after hearing a weird window motor sound for a day;
i hardly ever used that window, but im thinking something got bumped around since the roads i have to commute on are all torn up from construction and bumpy. i read somewhere else that same window problem with stinger because of loose connection.

also im getting hatchback rattle again like i had with my 2020 stinger.

i had blackvue dashcams and magic pro installed thru the fuse box; im hoping this is not related.
ive been getting BATTERY DISCHARGE BECAUSE OF EXTERNAL DEVICES ever since blackvues installed with magic pro.

does anyone else's do this when braking? i start applying the brakes and then a few moments later it feels like the back brakes grab really hard making a not smooth braking. is that just inherent of having front and back brembos? do they not all grab at the same time?
its annoying, i cant ever get a smooth braking because i think when the back ones engage, its jolting.

" If your using Power magic Pro, it would be recommended to set it to 12v voltage cut off,

Since the Power magic Pro draws power from the cars battery the Car's on board Computer will think of the power magic pro as an additional consumers or addition accessory, that was not on the original calibration of the Car's on board computer, this means that the computer will think the battery need to charge and recover. But as long as the Power magic pro is not draining your car battery, your okay.

To solve it, you may go to your Dealership service center to configure the power management system, so they can calibrate and add the PMP

Or You might also use other alternative power source option like the Power magic battery Pack(B112) or Power magic ultra battery ( B124X), Since battery is an independent power source it wont trigger the the car's Power management system to give you a low voltage warning.

1. Power magic Battery pack- No hardwiring required.
Simply plugs into your vehicle’s accessory (cigar lighter) power socket.

2. Power Magic Ultra Battery recharges with ignition on and powers your dashcam when ignition is off.
Fast-Charging: the Power Magic Ultra Battery reaches a full charge in a record 40 minutes when hardwired (80 minutes if connected to the cigarette lighter socket).
Long-lasting: Parking Mode can last more than 24 hours with a single-channel BlackVue.

Does your braking issue occur if you try to duplicate it while in neutral?

It's likely just the car downshifting.

ah, didnt think of that, the downshifting plus braking at the same time would cause a jolt.
ive never tried it in neutral. i will after work.

I use the button to disable stop/start 99% of the time after I start the vehicle. Hopefully they get this sorted and you on your way. It could be something as simple as a weakened old battery. What year and how many miles on the Stinger? One of the reasons [the top reason] I don't use stop/start is the extra cycles on the battery will lead to premature replacement, batteries are rated for a certain number of lifetime discharges and recharges. Living in a very hot environment for 5 months of the year, anything extra I can do to lessen the load on the battery the better. Same can be said for very cold weather.

Hello,

Carmax checked the battery and said it is in good shape also no error codes were found. I went to the KIA dealer yesterday and the service advisor said I shouldn't push the auto stop/start on/off button while the auto start on /off is working (engine off while depressing the brake). I thought I can push this button anytime I want even if it is turning the engine off while at a stoplight. Going forward I will just push it to the off position every time I start the car (if I remember to). I don't want to have the car battery voltage at the battery terminals under th ehood drop to 3.3 volts again and have no displays working and can't start the car. Thanks for all your comments. I have the 2019 Kia stinger base model. I bought it used with 33K miles on it and I love how the car looks and drives.

so yep it doesn't do it in neutral, you were right, im a noob.

was just in for first service, battery is good, only 3k miles, had it close to a year. something is broken because it makes a weird metal screech sound everytime i shut the car off. i baby my stinger. so it's nothing I've torn up. the start stop would engage every time i went to put it in park, i think that's when the problem started.

I was replying to the OP, tbh I didn't even read all your post.

no worries was hoping someone has insight
Your issue sounds like it's outside of my experience/knowledge. I changed my reply to include a quote of what I was replying to. Sorry for the confusion. [normally I would suggest starting a separate thread for individual issues, but when they're similar in nature it's sometimes useful to have the issues/solutions bundled under on set of posts]

The stop/start stopping the engine and then restarting when you press park - that's completely normal.

Silly, but normal.

The metallic sound you hear after shutting off the car is almost certainly the EWG (electronic waste gate). Do you have a video that clearly shows and clearly can hear the issue?

Metal screeching sounds like a failed bearing. Sometimes the belt makes a chirping like noise. It's up to the tech to figure out what is failing/failed. Could be a bearing in one of the pulleys, idler or one of the accessories (alternator, ac compressor, etc).

Does the screeching noise vary in pitch with engine rpm? Does it happen intermittently or always?

Edit, n/m, you said it happens when shutting off the car.

ok, here ya go, is at the very end, turn it up, i also just noticed another funny sound in this video listening to the belt. um, trying to figure out how to upload the video. New video by Nathan
