Stinger GTS vs M5 fun

Yeah, no way you'd get the jump on a F10 550 or M5, both of those are torque monsters compared to stingers. You would likely get a slight edge on a 335hp 335/340 and probably still outrun a 535/540 pretty decently due to the weight, but 550? No way, totally different game.

One thing about the old E60 M5 though was that to get to the full HP, you had to go through a bunch of steps and the car had to be adequately warmed up, etc. It was not on tap all the time. The V8 and other turbo torque-rich engines can bring the power forth much easier.
Seems like the OP did and I second his victory

Well that was definitely a 5 series, definitely 2011-2016, definitely made lots of noise when it passed me..unless he rebadged a 530 with M5 emblems then it was an M5..I was in the right gear, maybe he wasn’t, but either way there’s no question I pulled on him and he gassed it first.

If this is accurate:

then a 3.3 Stinger should have no problem trading blows with an early F10 550i. A 10 year old 550i with over 100k miles could be a bit tired, so a Stinger would be able to do more than put up a fight--again if the numbers on the link are correct.

In that generation, I believe the North American models were 528i, 535i, 550i, and M5. Very unlikely to be a 528i. The 535i was very respectable, and could be quite formidable with a tune. I believe BMS was offering JB1 and JB4 for BMWs long before Stingers, for example.

At the end of the day, no arguing with the results: you were ahead and he/she was behind. Thanks for sharing the video and for keeping safety in mind.

Could definitely see it being a 550 in comfort mode while you are in the right gear. By the time it shifts down and go you'd be pulling hard even with the extra power of a 550

Maybe, but he was buzzing me for a good 2 minutes trying to get me to bite. Why he would be in comfort makes no sense to me, but who knows. Also, I think it was manual, but not certain.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
If the 109 trap speed is correct for the early 550i--which seems to be consensus on the link I provided above--that is a driver's race with a Stinger 3.3, comfort mode or not. A manual transmission would introduce lots of variables, with the driver being probably the biggest one.

Ah well if it was one of the super ultra rare 6 speed manual 550i , then I'd say the stinger would win . They do exist in the us as a manual and does a 13.1 quarter mile and 0 to 60 in like 4.8 4.9 .. and that's with a pro under best circumstances

What's the name of the game? :)
Wing Commander 3. One of your wingmen (call sign "Maniac") says this if you give him an order that the devs didn't program for, or the authors don't like for the plot. Interesting trivia: Mark Hamill and Malcolm McDowell both did voice acting for this title--was a AAA release back then, and quite graphically demanding.

(sorry about off-topic)

I played the hell out of one of those games back in the day, I don't remember which one it was, but it was not so much against the cat-people, but some other aliens or something. There were cameos by Mark Hamill.
