Driving home after an amazing concert in the city, heading home, tired, well within the legal alcohol limit but no reason to attract attention to myself at midnight. Beemer came flying up on me and kept prodding and circling me for a good 2-3 minutes when I finally gave in to a roll at 60mph...

3 beeps, he hits the gas first, and....

nice!

Did you let off at the end?

Also dont see you were tuned in your mod list info
I did let off, I was coming into traffic (quick) in my lane and didn’t want to scare anyone in front of me tbh. Not tuned - Just breathes well lol (exhaust, snorkels, etc, - no intakes though).

What year is that M5? I am surprised the GTS could hang with the M5 on highway pulls...

More like he was hanging with me.. lol. I want to say it was a mid2000 .. maybe 2006?

makes sense. I think the older ones were just under 5 sec 0-60, so plausible.

Tail lights look like the F10 generation 5 series, 2012-2016. The M5 had 553-591 horsepower, quarter mile in ~12.0 at ~122 mph. The 550i in that generation was 400-450 hp, ~13.1 at ~109 mph , so about evenly matched with a stock Stinger 3.3. The only thing that matters though is what got put to the ground during that particular pull--anything can happen on the street. And kudos for both of you seeming to be mindful of bystander safety.

(2006 5 series, a.k.a. E60, was the height of bangle butt. To my eyes it looked like it was sculpted out of a giant Hersey's Kiss and the tail lights were much less horizontal than in your video. Those M5s had a V10 and would be fun to run just to hear the wicked scream.)

I’m going to see what I can pull off the videos, but maybe it was only a M550? That could make more sense, I was a little tired lol..either way I’m happy with it.

M550 is a real sleeper. It doesn't look like a hot-rod, like the M5 does, but it's damn near as fast. I remember they dyno crazy high, claimed was something around 450hp, but dynoing around 550. Even the previous generation was doing something similar. Twin turbo V8s just slightly de-tuned from full M-spec.

yep... i really can't see in the video which model it is... if any one can see the 535s had dual round exhausts, the 550i had dual trapezoidal exhaust tips with 4 holes, while the m5 has the quad round tips... of course aftermarket messes with that... also, the m5 is definitely louder than a stock 550i so may have been able to tell in person. i have a coworker that has a 2015 m5, I definitely cannot keep up with him on highway speeds. A stock 550i is close, depending really on the car/driver who gets the hit first..

if he has a aftermarket exhaust and it is a quad-tip setup it will be a tad bit difficult to tell

I think he meant it isn't possible that old 2000 to 2006 since those were the E39 and e60 generations and the one in the video is at least a 2011 f generation bmw.

So I cast the video to my big screen and in fact looks like it is an M5…2011ish? From the tail lights.. sounds mean too in surround lol..

No worries my friend, just quoting a 25+ year old game. Major props to anyone who can name it.

This. Tail lights on the E60 (2004-2010) 5 series are very distinctive as shown in the picture, and nowhere near as wide as in the video.

The F10 M5 was released as a 2012 model in North America. Most unexpected to pull on a car that is capable of cracking 11s. You had the best seat in the house, so I'll go with your version.

Yeah, no way you'd get the jump on a F10 550 or M5, both of those are torque monsters compared to stingers. You would likely get a slight edge on a 335hp 335/340 and probably still outrun a 535/540 pretty decently due to the weight, but 550? No way, totally different game.

One thing about the old E60 M5 though was that to get to the full HP, you had to go through a bunch of steps and the car had to be adequately warmed up, etc. It was not on tap all the time. The V8 and other turbo torque-rich engines can bring the power forth much easier.
