3.3TT Kia Stinger Aftermarket Exhaust Information and Discussion

The down pipes are from the turbos. Most systems you see are cat back. Keeping in line with emissions and legal stuff. Thats no to say that the catless mid pipes cant be used. Just depends on you and the state your in. Inspections and so on.

Okay - I'm new to the mod game so forgive my question. I don't know much about exhaust systems. I see all the primary this, catless that, secondary this stuff but can't say I fully understand it all. From all I've researched around I'm interested in going with a Borla Exhaust. What I'm confused by is when I see people do that and combine with, let's say for example Ark Downpipes. The Borla Exhaust is meant to be a complete system correct? If so, where would Ark Downpipes fit in?
First you have primary downpipe, than you have secondary downpipe, and after that you have cat back exhaust. Cat back exhaust is made out of two sections. Resonator section and muffler section. Hope it helps.

Okay those replies make sense. So going back to my example with the Borla exhaust - that includes everything I thought for the exhaust system. So if people are combining that with other downpipes, are they replacing a part of the Borla exhaust then?

Th borla exhaust is just a cat back, meaning it replaces the exhaust just behind the last set of cats the car has. Downpipes usually come off of the turbos and goto the 2nd set of cats and come in catted and catless flavors.

Yep - I just spent a few hours reading some different threads so I got it all now (in particular that ARK Secondary Pipes thread). Looks like the jury is out on whether secondary pipes enhance HP - maybe a little TQ at low ends. What I'm curious about is if the same is true for the cat back? I get the concept of enhanced air flow but is the majority of the purchase for exhaust systems for sound? I should have prefaced this with I'm in the Lozic thread and am planning on ordering an ECU/TCU tune but trying to decide if I'm interested in exhaust so I know what to put down on the form.

Hey, just a quick question! I’ve got a muffler delete and I’m trying to reduce a little in cabin drone. Would these tips line up in the rear or would I need to buy singles?

I mean that really depends on how your delete was performed and where the end of the exhaust now sits. The only way to answer that is if you actually go out there and measure it yourself

Fair enough! It’s a single outlet ran to the outside tip on both sides, I just wanted to make sure they would fit in where the current tips are now height and width wise….I believe I need 54mm inlet and 89mm outlet?

Most use the 89mm outlet size, yeah.

Did you every get a reliable answer? i e-mail mbrp last weeks and they said there catback was not yet confirmed it would fit the 2022 model.
I believe it'll fit but you'll lose the valved exhaust feature. Same with all the other cat backs without valves.

Ok thanks, the valved feature does not do much anyway since there is barely exhaust sound even open.

I am however not sure how the car reacts when it's disconnected. Perhaps somone can chime in if it throws a code or not.

It’s just a wire that plugs into the exhaust, I have had mine unplugged and zip tied since May, no code has appeared for me or any issues

hello everyone I’m new here as well.
I would like to keep the valve feature but also have a aftermarket cat back exhaust. I did see a video where someone cut off the section that the valve was attached to and put it on what they were now running, but I think it was straight piped not sure. Does anyone know if you could keep the valve feature on say a borla exhaust?

Theoretically I guess it could be possible, but I am no expert so I can’t give you a definite answer.

Personally I didn’t notice the difference with the valve open and closed so I just kept mine off.

Does anyone offer a muffler delete that will mate to a borla s type?
