The Red Sport Q50s do have 400 horsepower. They are worth MUCH more on the used market than the 300 horsepower Silver Sports. However, the RS Q50s have a much higher MSRP. Both depreciate dramatically. They do make for incredible used car purchases though.
Nissan and especially INFINITI sales have slowed to a crawl over the last 2 years. Most manufacturers are doing much better now. INFINITI is just struggling to stay afloat. Their sales are positively abysmal now.
Other makers have upped the ante, cars like the Stinger certainly steal some Infinity sales, but Infinity wasn't ever top of the class anyway so they've only managed to survive and really never thrived. I don't even pay attention anymore to Nissan or Infinity announcements, probably conditioned to be this way because at some point there stopped being anything worth getting excited about.
The reason they're stuck is the company is struggling financially. Hard to sink money you don't have into R&D. It's a self defeating cycle (no money in = no way to generate exciting vehicles/sales). If it wasn't for the success of the Rogue they would have folded years ago.

Oh... makes sense... that's a shame because I always really liked the Nissan and Infiniti brands... I remember looking at a 370z before picking up my WRX a while back... a buddy of mine was looking at the Q50/Q60 before going for a CPO BMW instead... I was always a giant fan of the 350z, 370z, and the R35-GTR's haha!
(I'm the rare minority that genuinely loves the R35 over all the other generations... but yeah...)

There was a time early/mid 2000s my buddy's Maxima seemed like the coolest car ever built. At the time it was compelling because it offered V6 power and comfort at a reasonable price. Times have certainly changed, to the point I'm embarrassed to have ever thought any model Maxima was "cool". lol

Heck yeah look at the times changing! We're driving Kia's lmfao! If you told me ten years ago back when I was 17 and started to get into cars and reading all about them... that Kia would build a performance car I would have thought you were cray cray

I crossed shopped a Maxima before deciding to get the Stinger. Always or since 2017 at least had my heart set on a Stinger. I still did my do diligence checking out a WRX, Camry XSE V6 and the Maxima.
We had a loaded (sunroof, nav, leather etc...) Maxima as a rental. Drove it to Florida all the way from Minnesota. I was 50/50 on that car. The power was ok, not mind blowing but alright. Interior wasn't bad, it was lower to the ground, like the Stinger but that CVT, yikes. I couldn't get past how it felt "shifting". Trunk was also pretty small given the overall size of the car. They want way too much for those car imo. Still basically the same engine it's had for awhile and still fwd? Most of the "cooler" midnight package or whatever the non chromed blacked out ones were going for 38-45k. That's gt/1/2 territory obviously.

I remember my buddy and I did a "take home for the weekend" extended test drive in a Maxima with the special night performance package and dark trim. It was a very nice car if I'm being honest, but like you said, it was priced in Stinger territory and just made no sense...
It's time for another market price update. As expected, prices have gone up significantly on the used market within the last two months.
I think a combination of factors has led to price increases:
stimulus money bringing more buyers to the market
chip shortage limiting new Stingers for sale, increasing demand for used cars
reduced bargaining room and lease incentives on new models, causing more buyers to look at used models for affordability
more people returning to work outside of the home and increased travel
Currently, listed prices are similar to what we saw late in the summer of 2020. Keep in mind this is based on 2018 models with average mileage. So today's cars are several months older with several thousand more miles.
Study shows new car sales have dropped 26 percent, while used cars are selling 31 percent faster. For both new and used cars, EVs sell the slowest while...
I just got an offer of $37,660 for my 2019 RWD GT2 with 14,000 miles on it. None of the dealerships would touch that offer. They couldn’t come within $2k-$3k of that offer.
I leased a fully loaded 2021 AWD GT2 because the rebates were so high.
I had rolled almost $6k into my original zero percent loan for the RWD Stinger. I erased all of that extra debt and built over $2,300 in equity in the Stinger in 18 months. That is simply astounding. Luxury Sport Sedans almost never hold their value that well.
These used car prices are not sustainable. The dealers can’t match them and the online car buying companies are barely making any money buying and selling them this way.
Im hoping to buy the dip when it happens. I finally have my wife’s telluride on order so hopefully by later this year or early next year the used market will stabilize. Right now it’s just frustrating to see.
I said last year I was hoping for 2021, it looking more like 2022 or even 2023 for me. I don't really want to pay much above $25k for a GT and I think it's going to be a bit before they hit that price point. Which is fine, I'm in a position where I don't need a new vehicle at the moment.
Prices increased a lot since my April update. We're right around where we were in the spring of 2019, but with 2 more years and a lot more miles on the average car. The average 2018 GT2 has a dealer asking price of just over $40k.
I've been hearing auction prices are leveling off or even decreasing, so it'll be interesting to see where we're at in August with my next update.
A great time to sell, but not buy, a used Stinger.

That chart is nuts. I really wonder how long it’s going to take to stabilize back to the downward trend.
finally hoping to get my wife’s 2022 telluride and then I’ll be looking at a 19 or 20 GT2 in spring of next year.
PS - appreciate your update Sabs!! You’re a real one

I know, I bought my G70 3.3 elite, 2019, about 12 months ago w 15k on odometer, certified even, for 32k (31.7) - I now have 37,000 on the odo, and vroom just offered me 33,000 dollars. I owe around 26. So one year of ownership has netted me a profit of $6-7k (if I sell). WTF, used car world. It's like covid lockdown again, but I own all of the clorox wipes and TP.
