Some may seen my previous post describing a problem filling the gas tank--back pressure kept shutting off nozzle. Came on gradually and got progressively worse. Took my Stinger to Crown Kia and Sherry the service advisor took my Stinger in for evaluation and verified that problem was as described or worse. Kia trouble shooting central advised to reoplace the gas tank, as they thought it was a sticking ORVR (whatever that is). Gas tank replaced but problem continued so they looked down the fill pipe and...

"There was separation in the fuel neck tube that connects fill neck to tank, removed hose and verified hose internally collapsed"

Fixed, picked up my Stinger today and on the way home, filled up with pump nozzle on automatic--no problems :)

Thank You Sherry

Good. I remember this. What caused the internal collapse, though?

So nice to see a dealer throw expensive parts and labor at a problem because they can’t diagnose / use common sense.

I wonder, and I also wonder how many others are out there with varying degrees of this? How many are just putting up with this, like I did for a long time, and doing tricks like turning the nozzle upside down etc. At this point, wasn't interested in assigning a cause, just happy to have my Stinger back

To quote Yogi Berra, "You can make a lot of observations, just looking at things" My first thought was to look down the fill pipe with a scope.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I work for a commercial truck dealership. The trucks that come in for warranty repairs require the problem/symptom be sent to the manufacturer's service advisors and then those service advisors tell our techs what to do or change.

This creates an issue to where the techs are really only parts changers at that point because the manufacturer wants to hold their hands on every little repair therefore some issues that seem obvious might be missed. It used to be the tech doing the diagnosing and then only seeking advice from the manufacturer when the problem couldn't be found.

Kia might have a procedure close to this and that could be why the collapsed hose was missed initially.

Either way, I'm glad your problem was corrected!
