The US '22 model has the same basic taillight setup as the 21+ Korea (maybe other countries too?). But the taillights are not sequential like they are in Korea.
The lights look almost identical, so I assume in theory they could be converted (or worst case right and left replaced with the Korean versions). I LOVE sequential tail lights, so I really want to do this. Has anyone done any research into this?

I saw there are a few companies selling the entire taillight package (right, left, and center) for older Stingers which requires a lot of work to get the new center in. I assume that would not be necessary on the 22's since they have that part already. Also, I presume that 2 pieces would be significant;y cheaper than 3 to buy and ship if I had to go that route.

You will need to replace the full outler light section to Korean one. Have a closer look to NA rear light they are not individual led, it is a single led panned with a cover that make it look like individual leds... Korea led cover is clear and led surround is dark, NA one is blured transparent plastic.

I was wondering that too, but it really does seem like it is bunch of LED's. I tried to take a picture of video but it didn't come out very well. I guess i could take it apart to see, but. I would like to avoid it. I did see one of the importers sells the Korean set (L+R) for $750. That's a lot. I assume this would just be a simple swap at that point, right?

I took the plunge and bought the Korean lights. I Should have them by the end of the month if not sooner. I will of course keep everyone updated on this project. I feel reasonably confident they will work fine. But hopefully, I am not wrong.

How much? And will the turn signals be sequential? OEM in the US are not sequential.

$750 shipped. As for sequential, I presume so. That is usually done inside the light itself. there are some videos of the install on Korean Stingers going from regular to sequential with these exact lights. I have a 22, so they are basically the same lights. I presume the plugs and sizing will be the same. At least I sure hope so...

Can't wait to find out if this works. If so, I will buy these rear lights/sequential indicators before I buy the Stinger so that I'll be good to go on Day 1.

You putting these on a 2018-2021 or a 22?

I was thinking about doing this but paying and additional car payment for something I'll never see gives me a bit of pause.

Just in case there is any confusion, I took apart my taillight assembly and the upper red section is LED and the translucent (fogged) lower section is a single incandescent bulb.

Is that in a 22?

Looking at signatures is a handy tool. :D
I assumed not, but that’s the subject of the post which is why I asked. I believe the Us 22’s are all LED since there are no bulbs to replace in them.

Yeah, I'm curious about that "incandescent" assessment too: because I thought that the lights were all LED in the 2022. A single LED as the turn signal would make sense.

Yep. I think it is actually multiple LED’s for the turn but I’m not positive. I really don’t want to break the seal on mine to find out. I would rather keep them waterproof (as much as they are from Kia). I was more curious if they were incandescent we might need a resistor in-line to not get bulb errors. I really don’t think the 22’s have any incandescents at all.

Welp, you'll be disappointed then!

How can you tell from a single unit whether or not it is incandescent? Does an LED unit have "LED" on it somewhere?

If you can't replace the blub, it's LED. So if you see the back of the unit and there isn't a way to remove the bulb...

Here is a pic of the Korean 21+ version that I grabbed off eBay. It does look like the top one might be removable. But that is clearly LED. Maybe I will pull the housing out of my 22 and see what I can see.

The reason I know this is because I have already disassembled it. The bottom light is most definitely incandescent.

The top is merely the way to disconnect the harness from the LED strip.
