3.3TT DIY intakes w/Heat shielding drop about 0.2sec off 0-60

Ah thank you. I ordered an AEM filter instead of Spectre. I can easily get a straight tube. Hopefully it comes with a coupler and clamps lol
I used a couple AEM dry flow filters. Hate having to oil filters. You don't need a coupler. You just need a worm clamp which the filter comes with and some 3" diameter piping.

What was the part# for AEM filter? Just realized the filter that's in the set is 6in. Dont i need a 3in if I'm using oem tubes?

Thanks! I have the 21-2093DK right now which is the 6in. Thought it would come with a coupler but maybe i can find one.. was trying to reverse engineering the AEM kit Haha
I get what you are trying to do now. So you need something like this it seems.

Anyone ever just take and wrap the heat shield material from the first post around the stock air box and either keep the stock filters or replace them for a "boxed" conical then just add a snorkel to the front?

I have done extensive testing with the stock box and drop in panel filters with the AirScoops snorkels. I honestly believe that you wouldn’t get much better than that solution. Whatever air box you built wouldn’t really be able to be much bigger.

I think your money would be much better spent on an intercooler or exhaust than on trying to make a better solution than the stock airbox with AEM panel filters and the AirScoops.

Was waiting forever for another car guy who wanted to help but after 3mo, needed to get the parts out of the house. Did a before vlog and Install Montage. Need to do the post test and I'll get a "Was it worth it" video up on YT.

That looks cool. I bet it sounds great too. Did you do the aftermarket snorkels? I would imagine those will help performance tremendously especially when that engine bay gets hot.

I'm about 50/50 that the wife has procured some for Xmas. If not, will be sliding into Mr. Askvig's DMs before things warm up again. Sound from the cabin is unchanged below 50% throttle. Above that gives the characteristic hollow AAH and slight whistle of a Cummins Turbo Diesel. Less muscle car growl and more Dyson V70 screaming "cAn HaZ mOaR aAaAiIiIiRrR". The word "throaty growl" was my previous experience on NA cars and it's not that but it's ok to be reminded that forced induction is doing it's spinnyboi best to brighten your day.

Slightly more janky looking than OP but I’m rocking DIY intakes with the same heat shielding. I don’t feel any difference in acceleration, but I finally get to hear the turbos

So I recently went to a few car meets and got the tuner itch again. I threw on my homemade CAI(cool air intake;))system with heat shielding, but before I did I ran another stock 0-60 test to get a good baseline. I know video editing is not the most accurate measurement, but I’ve run consistent stock 4.8sec 0-60s using this method. I do my best to crop at the same frame for each run and was even a little conservative on the DIY intake run of 4.6sec. I’m amazed on the improvement just intakes made and can’t wait to add exhaust and see what that does next.:D See below for pics of intakes and video tests.

One of my earlier stock 4.8 runs.
The 4.8 confirmation run the day before intake swap.
The 4.6 run with DIY CAIs!
A 4.7 run with DIY CAIs and Autohold launch. Little slower off the line but still faster than stock.

Gotta say it again..Love this car more and more everyday!
Do you know if this would void any warranty?
