Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

Hey, it could come in handy. One night long, long ago I was driving barely under the speed limit in the slow lane and a sadist in a semi got on my tail and turned on his high beams, for what reason I can't imagine. It blinded me, but I knew there was a car to my left, so I couldn't change lanes and a car ahead of me, so I couldn't speed up. Then I remembered that on the drive to work my washer fluid had sprayed over the car and I'd forgotten to try to adjust the sprayers before leaving for home. I turned them on and evidently hit my target, because a few seconds later--no high beams, no semi. I never figured out where he disappeared to, and with my limited understanding of physics I still don't know how that worked.

Sounds like quantum physics to me :alien::laugh:

Here's a first world problem! When I press the button to fold in the side mirrors when going into my narrow garage they don't fold at exactly the same time (one seems faster than the other) and it's driving me NUTS!!!:laugh::cry:

Oh, and my dealership tried to fix my windshield washer fluid spraying the entire length of the car and they couldn't fix it!!

SAME HERE. My apartment garage has a super tiny opening so I fold in my mirrors and it's always annoying hearing "thunk-thunk" as opposed to one solid stereo "thunk".

Not necessarily a Stinger issue as I've noticed this on my Optima as well.

My GPS doesn't show any information for military bases. It just goes blank as soon as I go through the gate.

My 4runner, Altima, and phone's GPS all work on bases.

Same here - nothing. My bimmers always had working maps when on base.

So I'm not sure if anyone has had to clean their windshield yet, but do not lift the wiper blades up from their regular position, or else you'll scratch the hood. You have to turn them to "service position" first.

I mean, it's in the manual, but it's not the kind of thing I've ever had to refer to the manual before in a car.

That's very standard on cars these days, they put the wiper blades below the air curtain from the bonnet to reduce drag and vibration from the wipers. But still a good point to newer owners.

Someone please remind me how to put the wipers in service mode?

Wiper system is not my friend right now because (1) it sprays over the entire roof of my car and (2) typically after washing the car the passenger side wiper warps and barely touches the window.

It's not exactly cool driving around with half a windshield covered in washer fluid.

Don't you just pull up the wipers so that the base is not covered by the bonnet?

Since we're on the topic of wipers, I did notice my washer fluid spray was rather limpy and pathetic - it barely hit my windshield. Can you adjust the strength of the spraying?

A minor "bad" discovery is the lack of a tachometer and gear displayed in the HUD. Had it in our past Lexus NX and was a nice to have especially in manual mode in more spirited driving.

Being able to modify the HUD would be nice - shift light anyone?

Humm. Haven't messed with head rest. Will have to open the book to see how to adjust this. Thx.

As someone else pointed out, I'm loving the fact that if you shut off the car it will automatically put it in park. Nice!

Loving the headrest's forwards/backwards adjustability! First headrest that actually supports my head!

Just push/pull the headrest horizontally, theres a clicking spring mechanism which allows for 3 position settings.

Is this GT2 only of all GTs?

If your key fob does go flat, you can still use the NFC chip in it, you just press the key to the start stop button.

Then the immobiliser will turn off and the car will start.

I wonder how many people on here even know there is an actual key in the fob for unlocking the car. Lol

... while bitching at you, telling you to restart the car and put it in Park before you turn off the ignition. LOL

I don't know if this has been mentioned but I noticed that the electronic handbresk automatically disengages when you go out of park. I wish it also auto engaged when I put it into park like my Lexus.
