Testing out my new 19 stinger GT awd and im in love. This was my dream car and now its mine so i'm beyond happy.

Still testing out the butload of options this car offers and i noticed i can't get the auto hold option to hold in reverse. Now mind you im still scared shitless driving this car coming from a 1.6 tdi golf, so im kinda overly cautious with everything so i might have missed something. All the auto hold lights are green and not yellow like the manual said would indicate a malfunction.

Apart from that this is the best car i have ever seen let alone drive, im shocked when i see it parked.

I don't think 'Auto Hold' works in reverse only forward. At least I've never had it work in reverse and I use it all the time.

Worked for me in reverse when testing my LED-backup-light installation. '19 GT1 AWD.

MY18, Auto Hold works in reverse.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It automatically becomes inoperative on my MY18.

Wtf would u need auto hold for in reverse? What’s the use case? You cruisin up to lights in reverse and what a quick launch?

Checking if your backup lights are working.. :)

Edit: I didn't expect it to work actually, but was pleasantly surprised that it did..

I don't really need it, just checking if everything is working properly. If it should work and it doesn't, it irks me even tho i will not use it.

Mine works in reverse as well. Used it to get this picture. View attachment 56355

I don't think I will ever trust a car's electronics enough to put it in reverse and stand behind it. What if your car is secretly one of Skynet's T-100s and the war against the humans has already started?

Yeah.. I waited like 30 seconds sitting in the car (with lots of free space behind) before getting out...

Checked mine again today definitely does NOT work in reverse. Maybe it's an extra feature for the US market as all the people who have said it works are from the US?

Yep, i also checked again and it does not work. It seems that Europe and Australia don't have auto hold in reverse which is probably due to some safety regulations. There are a lot of subtle differences between stingers for different markets, i feel like a detective figuring it out for the last year and a half. Maybe we should make a post that lists all the market differences.

That's not a bad idea to start posting up a list of what is different by continent/country for our cars!

btw... I wonder if there would be an aftermarket software update that would allow auto-hold to work in reverse for the European and Australian markets??

I think people are confusing auto-hold with electronic parking brake.
I am most definitely not confusing Auto Hold with the EPB. For me, Auto Hold definitely works in reverse . . . at least in my US spec 2021 GT.

Maybe it matters HOW one applies auto-hold? I.e. you can't start in park, so perhaps one has to start in D, apply it, THEN switch to R? According to the logic above, that would engage EPB?

I guess it's possible that it auto-engaged EPB for me, and there have been varying reports about the strength of the EPB - some can use it to do faster launches, some report lots of slippage. So maybe I have a strong EPB? I don't remember exactly what happened - LED reverse lights were one of my first mods, nearly 2 years ago.. There's a small chance, due to memory loss over time, that I just used EPB straight up. However, I know that I'd never use the regular parking brake for something like that, so I don't think I would trust it either.

I'll try to re-test sometime, although I don't drive the car much these days..
