Auto hold in reverse seems to be not working.

my US 2019 works if it's engaged already in Drive (ie I turn on auto hold while the car is in D), and every time I get home and put the car in R to park I still have it on and have to press the gas or hit the brake to turn it off. I haven't tried turning the system on while the car is in R.

I am most definitely not confusing Auto Hold with the EPB (Electronic Parking Brake). For me, Auto Hold definitely works in reverse . . . at least in my US spec 2021 GT.
If you read my post and saw the screenshot... my point is opening the door switches from auto hold to EPB. Because it would be unsafe as shit to be behind the car in reverse with only auto hold on.

I read your post and saw your screen shot. Given that you were simply quoting someone who also said their Auto Hold did not work in reverse (and made no mention of getting out), and that the section of the OM that you screen shot said Auto Hold doesn't work in P or R, it wasn't at all clear what your point was.....

This post has me rolling!!! Rolling laughing, not rolling in my car...in reverse with the Auto Hold on. :D

*As an fyi, you'll never see me get out of my car to get in front of my car or behind my car with only auto hold on while in drive. Crazy...madness!! :alien:

Ditto that. No EPB confusion here either. I know this empirically because my MO is to disengage ISG first thing after startup; select drive mode (99.9% of the time it's Custom), engage Auto Hold; shift into Reverse: Auto Hold is Green; gently press the accelerator and start to roll (Auto Hold turns white). Out in the street I stop, still in Reverse; Auto Hold turns green; remove my foot from the brake and hover over go pedal after I shift into "D" and manual gate; "1" shows and Auto Hold is green; press the accelerator and the light turns white. And away I go.

Yeah i think this pretty much confirms that US stingers have reverse auto hold. Mine definitely doesn't, i tried all the combinations. The car was bought in Germany.

My 2018 Canadian Stinger does auto hold in reverse, but once I open the driver's door, it automatically shifts into park (shift by wire shifter).

I believe that safety feature is not exclusive to shift by wire. When I have left my car idling in "D" on Auto Hold for more than five minutes (while chatting somebody up, time flies by), I get an alert (audio and video) that it has moved to "P", and that is with the shifter still in "D"/manual gate. So, some override is at work even without shift by wire.

So they could use auto-hold in reverse... seems like only people in the USA and Canada are allowed to... but with a software update/change perhaps those in Europe and Australia would be able to as well. :D

So you think Kia should update the car's software specifically to enable people to stand behind their car while it's in reverse?

lol no... not for that reason... I'm saying that if people in Canada and the USA can use the auto-hold in reverse under certain parameters then people in other demographics of the market should be able to do too... I personally will never stand behind any vehicle that is in reverse... but everyone is different... some people smoke a pack of ciggs a day then in their mid 40's are stunned they develop cancer... some people choose to drop $10k on a home theater system while not contributing a penny to any form of retirement plan then complain how they still have to work in their 70's to survive... God gave us free will... people can do whatever they want... lol

Read this thread this morning couldn’t stand it had to try. On my 2019 GT Limited auto hold works in reverse. Now that being said after today I will never use auto hold in reverse.

I only "use" it because I back out after going through the start up checklist, which means "engage Auto Hold" is number three. :D

Haha yeah i know it is useless and i like the feedback of normal automatic reversing but i started a thread thinking there was a malfunction with my stinger.
At least now we know that US and Canada stingers have reverse auto hold and Europe and Australia don't. For science!

lmfao such fun experiments! :p

I just hope nobody gets run over by their own car!
