Fair enough.Only map 1 or 2 can be considered mild because they only require pump gas. Map 4 on the JB4 site literally says: Map 4: Up to 7psi over stock. For use with unleaded race fuel and/or E85 mixtures up to 30%. Yes thats more than a mild type of tune especially if you are not monitoring the amount of E85 in the tank, just estimating it during fill ups is not exact enough. Having the wrong fuel on an aggressive map can certainly cause engine damage and fast
You dont need a CEL to come on to do damage to your engine. JB4 logging exists to catch issues before they happen
Im not saying not to mod your DD. Im saying there is a difference between knowing what you are doing, and closing your eyes and hoping for the best. At least if youre going to close your eyes, walk slowly instead of running. You can do a map 1 or 2 tune on the JB4 and be almost guaranteed never to run into an issue as long as you regap and replace plugs (along with logging). Learning how to take logs is part of tuning, you cant be too busy to do it. All you have to do is post them here, tons of people do that and other people will read them for you
Look I dont want to shit on you when you already feel shitty. Ive made some stupid decisions too in my life, just havent posted them in a public forum. It take guts what youve done, I commend you for committing to learning from this.
I will not judge anymore. I and other people in this forum can point you toward links, posts, etc that might help you out for this car when you get it back or future cars. Just ask away
Maybe I can look through the logs that I have recorded and collected and see if anything pops out.
I certainly didn't realize that the E85 mix needed to be monitored that closely.
It's not such a brave thing to post it. I'd rather lose and learn that just lose. Besides, I have read people doing what I did on untested mixes and even 93 octane. It's important to put it out there. I'd rather serve as a bad example than be useless. If by chance, this was a manufacture's defect that was brought to light. Then I am glad that it was early in the car's life. Either way, it makes me wonder how many people never share this kind of thing out of pride.
