Does anyone have a jb4 tune with an upgraded turbo? If so, how would you go about adjusting it with the tune?

Or is this something that plug n plays are not meant for?

Thank you

I’m looking into this too. Did you get the Pure Turbos or another brand?

Maybe you could use the logs and have Terry do a remote map then upload? But I'm honestly not sure how much control the JB4 has.

I know Terry has done testing with the JB4 and Pure Turbos over the last couple of years.

Yeah I looked at them when you said Pure turbos. I'm going to say with very high confidence that the JB4 will be fine if that's the "upgraded turbo" OP is talking about.

I currently don't have any new turbo yet. I want to feel out how big of a pain it is and if its really worth it before i throw money away.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Talk to Terry. One or two of the maps are specifically set up for the user to be able to modify the internal tables to set up different targets.
Best to check out his message board (n54tech.com) or contact him directly. I bet there's some useful threads on his board as he uses similar logic on many versions of the jb4.

I noticed this site also has an upgrade fyi. Kia Stinger 2.0 T-GDI Turbo Upgrade – GotTuned.com

I might be going at this all wrong so feel free to educate... I only have the 3 basic mods: Exhaust, JB4, and Intake. Im interested in an intercooler before the turbo upgrade only because I don't feel the Big bore throttle body would be worth it. I'm not interested in the Meth kit either. I know LAP 3 has an upgrade kit but its expensive. I would almost wonder if i would be at the point of just engine swapping it for the bigger motor... smh idk it burns me that a civic type R pulls away still.lol

Yea, terry is awesome. I run through the threads to see what i can find. Most of them are all about the V6 though.

A good flash is required to run larger turbos, with JB4 being used for fine tuning, safety, logging, WMI control, etc.

In your opinion Terry, do you think its worth all of that trouble? Or just deal with the realization that I have only a few more options like BBTB and an intercooler if I dont want to really put money into it?

My question along the ‘worth the trouble’ line is will the bigger turbos destroy our transmission.

Oh, wait, you have the 2.0? Yeah, that would be a lot of money for not much gain. You would need to be extremely serious to do much with the 2.0. Best upgrade you can do is trade it in on a 3.3. Waaaaaay cheaper than anything else. I haven't seen much happening with the 2.0, so you'd need to find a shop and start the completely custom journey.

No. Best guess right now is the trans is good to 800 ft-lbs. Even then, a trans has problems if you actually have traction. Running on the street with street tires? No problem. Big sticky slicks? OK, gotta pay attention.

Thanks. Was wondering about that. Didn’t know what the ft-lb limit on the existing trans was if upgrading. I had read somewhere that when they were testing the Pure Turbos a few years ago it tore up the trans. Although, I have seen a number of people have upgraded with no issues.

I think larger turbo kits are cool and tons of fun... But if you're asking if heavily modifying a car is a good financial decision. It's usually not. ;)

There goes your weekly bonus, you're not supposed to tell us the truth lol

Yea, I figured as much but I did know if I was missing something. When I got the car, I got it during 2018 on Memorial day and was coming out of an optima. Lol I was already up 10k from that. At that time, the 3.3s were almost another 8-10k on top of that. I think just engine swapping it would be the way to go but idk how big of a pain that would really be.
