Bit of a noob question - just got my MBRP aluminized exhaust this week from K8 (ordered during their November sale) and the pipe is bent on just before the resonator. Looks like it had been resting inside against the side of the box and must've been pushed by something. I'm planning to go to a muffler shop for the install so I'm thinking it can be corrected. This shouldn't present a big issue during install right?

The shop can fix that in a few seconds. No big deal.

This is probably a dumb question but here goes. I’m waiting on my mbrp exhaust and am shopping for tips. What size should the inlet be? I know mbrp has a 2.5” pipe, but most sellers for tips measure in mm. So 2.5” is 63.5 mm but sellers offer inlet sizes at 63mm and 66mm. Is 63 going to be to small or should I go with 66?

For MBRP inlet is 63MM

I just had my MBRP SS installed today, and the tips I bought were the Akrapovic 63mm x 89mm as suggested by a few members. My mechanic used all the original hangers and said it all fit well (he's also a true gearhead and trust his opinion without question). The longest part he said was making sure the tips fit perfectly in the opening without destroying the bumper. The correct size if you want the oval look is 63mm x 105mm (per other members).

No drone, but like with all aftermarket it will take a few hundred miles to "tone out". My mechanic charged $180 for the install, and made the tips fit perfectly. Sound is awesome, no rattling, shaking, but the tone is definitely noticeable in Sport Mode. I ran at 75mph in ECO and Comfort and had very little noticeable drone, Sport had a mild low tone. 10 days from the time it was all ordered and on the car, $1300 for everything including installation. After getting smacked in the stock market this week I can honestly say the sound put a smile on my face today. :)

Do you have a pic of your tips installed? I’m on the fence of going for a stock look or going with circular or oval akrapovic tips. I like the circular akrapovic tips the best but didn’t think you could fit them without cutting the bumper which isn’t something I want to do.

To be clear, he did have to dremel the bumper for the round ones to fit, but took a lot of time to do it evenly. I will shoot a few pics and post in the morning but it looks good to me. This is my car (not a lease) and I know a few members had that as concern as well.

Gotcha. I also own my car, but I was planning on doing the install myself. When I went to measure things for the akrapovic tips, I realized that you have to cut away quiet a bit more than I was anticipating which turned me off to the idea. If I had a pro to do it I might think differently.

Update, I got mine installed yesterday, to everyone that said the clamps are garbage and I said they were wrong. I apologize, they are now trash. The MBRP clamps used to be good, but not anymore. Just get the Ubolt style and go with them.

Is it okay to get the MBRP catback exhaust without using any exhaust tips? Or in other words... only have the stock exhaust tips on the vehicle?

What about if I go with the Borla catback exhaust? (I know it's far louder and with a greater growl - but the drone is only bad at around 2k RPM or less)

I believe you can use the existing tips.

Here are a few snaps..I can't tell but if you get underneath it there is very little cutaway (in mm).

Looks good! I called a local shop today to see what they’d charge for labor to install the exhaust and mod the bumper for round tips and they quoted me $300. Think I’m going to save the money and do it myself with some stock-look tips.
Seems expensive for an R&R @ $300, but everywhere is different I guess.

You don't need aftermarket tips if you like the OEM ones but you'll want to do something to minimize the drone. I have the Borla and I wrapped the exhaust pipes with exhaust wrap, pressed it up against the inside of the OEM tips and clamped it all down with U-bots. No drone. There's a link somewhere on the forum on how to do it. I did like the look of the black tips so I took them off and painted them gloss black to match the diffuser.
