RaceChip unleashes true potential of the Kia Stinger GT (and future GTR)

Is this a similar design to the lap3 setup? What are the pros and cons to sway me towards this system versus the lap3 uncle chip?

The basic principle is very similar. The product is placed in the wiring loom between several sensors and the engine control unit. I can’t say more about other products that I didn’t test.

However, I will explain a few general advantages of RaceChip.

Global market leader
RaceChip sells more than 100,000 performance upgrades each year and has more than 100 employees. This does not only mean that we have the most experience, we are also able to invest the most resources in product development, because it pays off due to the high sales volume. Our products are available in 135 countries.

Best hardware in the market
Our new product range was launched in the end of 2017 and represents the latest technology. A RaceChip GTS is made of more than 350 hardware components. One of these components is an ARM Cortex processor capable of gathering and optimizing data from the engine sensors via up to seven analogue and digital channels in parallel.

RaceChip is a one-stop shop (if you purchase in our online shop)
The engineers developing the hardware and software work next to our customer support. Having no middleman speeds up processes (such as customer requests) and increases efficiency.

Fine-tuning to your car and your needs even after installation
A RaceChip is programmed specifically for your engine. On top, you can fine-tune the settings after installation (select fine tuning mappings via a digital user interface or via app).

Smartphone App (optional)
The smartphone app offers three tuning stages to match different driving situations: Efficiency for saving fuel in urban traffic, Sport for improved mid-range flexibility on open roads, and Race for maximum performance on the Autobahn or a drag race. The app can also deactivate the RaceChip completely, returning the car to stock.
Fine-tuning via app
: If you are not satisfied with your tuning mapping (e.g. you installed a new performance part and think there is hidden potential), our customer service is able to further adapt the settings to the performance characteristics of your engine. The new parameters will then simply be transferred from the app to your RaceChip.

Free reprogramming (GTS only)
A RaceChip can be reprogrammed and transferred to another car. If you have a GTS or GTS Black, this is free of charge (conditions apply).

Warm-up timer (App or GTS Black only)
Allow your engine a warm-up phase before releasing the performance upgrade.

Made in Germany
Our products are developed and produced in Germany. Our suppliers also serve the German automotive industry.

30 days money back promise
You have the right to return your product within 30 days of receiving it. We will not charge any restocking fee.

5 years product warranty (GTS only)
The RaceChip GTS & GTS Black come with 5 years, the RS comes with 3 years product warranty.

Thanks for the info.

Would love to see more info on the install and keep us informed when the product is available to purchase.

Looks like an interesting product. Look forward to purchase info when available.

Cool to see some new products.
428hp.. How much hp at the wheel is that?

Two questions:

1. Can you modify the limited top-speed?
2. If an owner modifies intake, exhaust, etc., can custom tuning be purchased?

Thanks!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I'm intrigued. If this is a mod that even car novices can do, then I'm game. I think what would really help for the noobs who don't normally get their hands wet under the hood are very detailed installation instructions with a video tutorial.

RaceChip is about to jump on board as an Authorized Vendor and here's what's going on over there...

Emotional, sportive, aggressive – this is how the Kia Stinger GT presents itself. The media is thrilled, but RaceChip wonders: Is that already everything? Or is there even more potential in this Korean car? Therefore RaceChip took a closer look at the Kia Stinger GT, with the goal to unleash its true potential.

Untapped potential for future Kia Stinger GTR
Soon after the release of the Stinger GT, rumors about an even stronger version of the 3.3 liter V6 arose. Albert Biermann, Hyundai-Kia’s performance chief, commented these rumors in an interview with Motoring. He admitted that “the car technically has more potential no doubt”, but added that “at this point there is no plan to do more”. He first wants to establish a customer base before “maybe next steps can happen”.

Power potential unleashed
Car enthusiasts are dying to experience the full potential of the Kia Stinger. “The engine base of the Stinger has the perfect conditions for us to unlock its power reserves. Why should we wait?” comments Dirk Bongardt, COO and head of product development at RaceChip. “RaceChip is specialized in exploiting the full power potential of cars” he explains. “So, we had to get our hands on the untapped potential of the Stinger GT”. The results are remarkable.

422 horsepower up from 365 horsepower stock. 508 lb-ft of torque up from 376 lb-ft of torque stock.

kia_stinger_dyno_chart.jpg

The adaptation and development of the chip took place directly on the RaceChip dyno, plus intensive test drives for further fine-tuning were added. RaceChip was able to increase the performance from 365 PS (370 PS) and 376 lb-ft (510 Nm) to 422 PS (428 PS) and 508 lb-ft (689 Nm). So, while the Stinger starts a new era for Kia, the RaceChip GTS Black already starts a new era for the Stinger GT. With the optional Smartphone App, drivers can select different driving modes or turn the tuning off with just one fingertip. To completely turn the Stinger GT to a full-blooded sports car, RaceChip also developed the throttle controller XLR. The XLR also comes with optional app control and shortens the response time of the Stinger. The performance parts will soon be available online at racechip.us and at authorized RaceChip resellers.

Very interesting! Will you be releasing any upgrades for the 2.0 motor?

When will this mod be out and ready for purchase? I currently have the lap3 chip, is this any better?

March 2018 as stated a couple posts ago in this thread.
And again in this thread vendor didn't test other products so they aren't doing comparisons. You'll have to wait for others to do so.

Did you even read the whole thread?

Guys, lets keep the negativity outside the forum.
We share the same goal of helping each other.;)

Theres no negativity at all. Its hard to help someone that cant help themselves. I'm only speaking from experience.

Hm fun, but I never trust these things until engines have been running with it for years without blowing up :P Besides, you guessed it I guess .... illegal in Switzerland. Again. Gnagnagna....

I did. Just wanted more info.

Probably about 365 whp .
This is a small increase (stock is ~330) compared to other chips, but if its safer and configurable then why not!

Stock is more likely 310-315.

The dyno readouts you see that show 330 & 340 stock whp are simply inaccurate readings that should be taken with a grain of salt.

So, the 2018 GT2 Kia Stinger is not pulling 365 hp as advertised or close to it?

The 365 is measured at the crank. So yes, it makes 365 hp at the crank.

The power measured at the wheels is typically 15-20% less due to driveline loss.

People using accurate dynos are seeing between 310-315 WHEEL horsepower. People using dynos which are known to give higher readings (DynoJet) are showing 330+ WHEEL horsepower (which translates to over 400 horsepower at the crank).

If a company is showing dyno results between 330-340 whp on stock Stingers it would probably be best to ignore their whp numbers and focus on whatever differences they are making between multiple runs (if they're advertising power making mods).
