After over a month of waiting (and driving a Forte), i finally got my Stinger back right before Christmas. Must say that the engine looks like a shiny new penny under the hood (as it should). Head redone as well. This thing feels better than when i drove it off the lot with only 50 miles on it......i want to put about 500 miles on it before doing anything other than K&N panel filter (everything else is stock).

Must throw in a shoutout to my Kia dealer.....they took car of me with the exception of the charge tube hose blowing off on a downshift and had to drive the car back to the dealer without any boost. Took care of it in a couple of hours.

I do have a jb4 and connected it on MAP 0 just to get some logs of how the stock engine does with timing/boost. Looking through, i noticed that the stock boost reaches as high as 18 psi. at times which this is what i would expect running MAP 1???????? Trying to attach the log. if it does not attach, i will add it later.....

Any thoughts, Terry or otherwise?

It's normal same with my 2.0 stinger, 2L comes from factory with more boost then 3.3

Really?? Definitely not complaining!!! I do wonder if they re-programmed the ecu with updated timing,AFR tables among other parameters? The car never ran this "strong" with just the factory setup to include plugs.....

The 2L has a different combusion chamber design too so you get more boost and more timing. But power per liter is pretty similar to the 3.3.

The butt dyno never lies. :D

No it does not...which is why i posted this for just "stock" data. It is amazing that the stock plugs with the stock gap can handle 18psi and have no issues???? Either way, will leave it stock for the time being as it runs really well and using the paddles to keep the torque in the "sweet spot" makes the 30 min drive to work enjoyable.

Hey monusa, I finally got my car back with the engine replacement. I've put a couple hundred miles on and I can say positively that the engine runs smoother than it did before, but I had issues almost since day one with the GDI fuel pump, injectors, spark plugs, ecu, etc. Except for the K&N drop in I'm keeping is stock as well.

Great to hear you got your Stinger back!!!!!! Not only does my new engine run better but the stock boost is definitely improved. It also appears that the ECU was re-programmed and i say that because i hooked the JB4 up to it set to MAP 0 and have been running logs to see how the stock boost/plugs/timing are running and it is hitting boost levels of 18 at times and the timing appears to be adjusting accordingly. This is still on stock plugs/gap which is pretty good in my opinion......I only have K&N filter as well......

Supra is in my sights though.......OOPS, did i say that??? LOLLLLLL

The 2.0T probably has a smaller turbo, so it'll have to pressurize the air more to move a given cfm, so comparing your boost numbers to a 3.3, while interesting, won't tell much about how your car is running. It's also only one turbo. A lot of smaller 4 cylinder turbo cars run similar peak boost stock.

And the B58 is a monster. We're out here wringing the stock turbos out for all they have to make numbers the A90 Supra can do with a basic tune and a couple of bolt-ons. If I didn't enjoy the looks and DD ability of the Stinger so much, a Toyota lot is right next to where I bought the Stinger.

Totally get the "physics" but those boost numbers that I am getting after the engine replacement are still "stock" numbers(including stock plugs/gap) and they were not that high before until I connected the JB4. Not really comparing to 3.3 just stating some information about the new engine.....it is running a lot better than when i purchased the car new......Hell, for all I know, there may have been an issue with the original engine from the start????

Will probably put my JB4 up for sale on the forum pretty soon. Love it but unless i go with the Stinger GT, it won't do me any good. Not going to connect it back to the new engine....for all I know, since Kia paid for the this one under warranty, who is to say they won't be looking EXTRA close (when taking it for service - still get free oil changes) to see if I am doing anything extra, to include, replacing the stock plugs with the HKS?(which I have also no longer used)

will be upgrading in about 4 - 5 months regardless......either Stinger GT or maybe "that other car".....lol
